Good defender, no good as a forward as shown recently. Had a low contract offer from Freo but that's been increased in the face of outside interest to a reported $500k per season. He's a Perth boy so not sure why he'd be wanting to leave for the eastern states. May just be a ploy to get his contract increased, which he has now done.

Not sure how he fits with us, maybe we were just a convenient name for his manager to drop? Very good fit for Norf who are very cashed up and needing a walk up KPD to help McKay

I raised Logue on here as a trade target a month or two back, based on media reports.

Don’t agree we are well stocked for defenders.

Rampe is coming to the end, Melican struggles to stay fit, Gould untried (although promising).

I think he’s going to get a better $$ offer from North though

I think we showed interest in Logue last season as well so we must rate him. Yes, its a long-shot given his Perth connection but its worth exploring.

I know he's been played forward by Freo so potentially we could just recruit him as a generic KPP and play him where we need him.

There's always the chance that we could send one of the McCartins back forward but I don't think it should be Tom unless we need to and it seems to have worked out so well for Paddy playing down back and playing with his brother.
I think Logue is more of a defender as well, but has shown that he can also play forward.

We need to replenish our depth at KPP. Rampe will be 33 next year, so at the very least we should plan for it being his last year. Melican may ask for a trade this year, and is a FA next year. I doubt he will be around in 2024. I think we will delist BOC. He hasn't really played to a level that warrants a try at AFL level. Buddy is either gone or might play another year, and Reid is a year to year proposition.

Whether we go for a recruit or through the draft, we need to add a couple of KPPs this year.

I hope we can keep Gould whatever else happens.

I agree with you. I like the idea of Logue as the future of the backline with the McCartins.

Ramps was 22 when he started playing for us. Does that make him more like a 30yr old or more likely somewhere in between?

If Griffin Logue was in the open draft, you would almost certainly pick him with pick 19. Ramps has had a good back end of the season but if we forward project to 2024 when our young midfield may be closing in on their peak, a 26 year old Griffin Logue is preferable to a 35 year old Dane Rampe.

I actually still hold concerns for Lloyd re-signing. Clarkson often hailed Lloyd when Clarkson coached Hawthorn and I think he would be a target to build culture at North Melbourne. I hope I'm wrong.

We are at worst a Top 4 side. We know this because we finished third in the H & A, and are in a Prelim. If anything we should get
better next year as the younger brigade get more games under their belt. Other than some minor tinkering I can't see us even
needing to be very active at the trade table this year. I'd be sticking with the program. It's working.

The issue here is that Logue is unlikely to move across the country in order to bide his time in the reserves for a year or so waiting for Rampe to finish up.

Logue seems to be most linked by reporters to a move to Victoria for some reason than to Sydney. Carlton is now being mentioned - another team with a limitless salary cap.

Lloyd has previously indicated that he is keen to re-sign with us. However, the fact that he suddenly stopped negotiations till season's end is a worry. North may have a godfather offer for him? He may have to pass up a premiership contender though for a re-build.

If he were to jump for a big offer then at least we should receive good compensation in return -probably a second rounder. This would also provide an opportunity next season for a young player like Campbell to cement a first team spot so its not all bad.

Freo are also in a premiership window. If he moves, it's for money.

Yes, but I believe that Freo have made him a poor offer as they are likely to be bringing in Jackson on mega bucks so others have to cop a pay cut or move.

Many bemoaned the loss of Dawson but look where we are now. Lloyd is replaceable. It might come down to what happens to Buddy. Lloyd's contract position hasn't affected his footy.

I wonder if the move of Ollie back was a pre-emptive move in case Lloyd leaves.
