The only other possibility is that we delist him and he becomes a DFA and we get nothing. Probably unlikely but possible. Having said that given that he hasn't debuted in 3 years any trade wouldn't net us much. I hope and suspect we re-sign him as he showed improvement this year.

And it just gets better with the McCartins are locked in - Paddy for another two years, and Tom through 2027.

What a week this has been for the club
I think it’s great Tom is locked in beyond Paddy at this stage too, would have been easy for him to look at offers in a couple of years. He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

The transformation of our backline is 80% responsible for our rise back up the ladder. No forward line worries me anymore.Comment

Fantastic news to have the Double Macs signed up.
Great to see all these re-signings happening at this point - it is clear players are feeling very happy and wanting to be a part of what could be a very fine era for the club over the next few years.
Important to get some of the boys locked in now, in case glory does await us later in the month."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

We are rolling out some significant resignings . Playing Devils advocate does this mean some cash has freed up and someone possibly might be leaving .
Buddy possibly retiring/ or Lions
Lloyd out of contract maybe has had a offer from elsewhere that we can’t/won’t match ?
Papley a year to go but teams look to get maximum value if there’s a chance they will leave . Will cost us more than the other two to resign .
Or maybe it’s just the fact we have no plans on chasing anyone this off season

However I think you are under-rating our forwards - Papley and Heeney are stars at 26y.o. Hayward is a very good player at 23; McDonald has enormous upside and is 20.
It is not outrageous to suggest McLean/Amartey could become a regular AFL player. Not a star, but maybe to the standard of Dan McStay/Ben Brown.Comment

It's also likely that none of the three in the past two days are on big money. If I had to guess, Fox might be going onto $250K plus incentives, P Mc $350K plus incentives and Tom Mc around $450K, and given the length of his contract, some clause with increases tied to the next CBA.
We know how good the current 22 is, and we appear to have some potentially very good players developing at present in the VFL, and we have two late firsts for the ND. Organic growth is looking pretty good right now from where I sit :-)Comment
