OK I will compare him to another player. He is taller and stronger than another player who was selected to play as a backup ruck in the AFL Grand Final. Hayden McLean! Who would you prefer?

Harry is a ruckman playing for Norwood which has just won the flag in the SAFL with a one point upset win over minor premiers North Adelaide. He won the Jack Oatey medal for being the best player in the Grand Final with an incredible 64 hit outs including one in the dying moments to Panos (ex fairy pup) who kicked the winning goal. He also won the Michael Taylor medal as Norwood's best player for 2022. Harry is only 24 with only two season in the SAFL so just coming into his peak as a ruckman. He did not miss a game in 2022 so is not injury prone. At 108kg and 198cm he is a ball of muscle. His season stats are extremely impressive, top ten in twelve categories for Norwood and in particular his Frees for are 66 vs Frees against of 31 so he is looked at kindly by the umpires. This ex Shepparton Bears product saw himself as a key defender who could pinch hit in the ruck when he was signed by Norwood in 2021 yet he has become the premier ruckman in the SAFL. Why is he not being mentioned as being on the radar of club recruiters...............
      Paragraphs please rb4x :-)

I must say his stats are impressive but 198 is borderline for an AFL ruck. I'm sure someone will rookie him just to try him out.

It's a completely reasonable analogy. Why do so many Australians have a phobia about politics?

How would you respond to this question? Suppose everything about Naismith was the same, except that for all this time he was a GWS player, instead of a Swan. So now he's a delisted free agent. Do you think the Swans should give him contract?
Good point....but he's with us already. Very nice of us if it was our intention to have him leave the club healthy but there still seems to be some curiosity within the club about his future prospects.

It was an analogy...and a good one. Why, does Trump bashing trigger you?

It's not even Trump bashing, it's just a neutral use of the Marmalade Mugabe to create a colourful analogy to make a point about Ludwig's anti-ruckman bias.

Please fill me in on the Marmalade Mugabe! Familiar with both words but that's as far as my understanding goes.

There are 5 or 6 posters here that just cannot help themselves, ruins this place. Meant to be a football forum to read about football.

Just worked it out! Marmalade is more accurate!

Bringing politics into it is just a smokescreen for some gratuitous Ludwig bashing.

I would have thought it was pretty obvious it was meant to be a joke....

Can we start up the Ludwig "Bring in Noah Balta" again. It's much more interesting than this ruck business and I reckon he's the exact player we need.

The first article lists ESPN's evaluation of every team's list needs, followed by a 2 round phantom draft, so there's a lot of scrolling down to do to get to the parts about the Swans:

AFL 2022 Trade Free Agency Draft period every club's list needs ahead of 2023

I quite agree with their analysis, as they have Isaac Keeler, one of my favs, as our 2nd first round pick. There are several players that I feel could fill out our list very nicely with our 3 top picks.

I also like Max Gruzewski as a possible 1 round selection. I would be quite happy with Keeler and Gruzewski taken with our 1st rounders, which looks very possible.

BTW, Paddy Ryder is listed at 197 cm., so I don't think 198 cm is too short for a ruckman. Keeler is listed at 198 cm, and reminds me a lot of Ryder. I love ruckmen.
