    LOL Liz!

All rucks want to be number one but there's only 18 positions available. Some ruckman makes silly club changes, Preuss left Norf being stuck behind Goldy only to get stuck behind Gawn, Pruess a dumb decision maker. Now Grundy leaves/pushed and gets stuck behind Gawn. Grundy a smart bloke but a dumb decision.

To help you compare the pair, here’s him v Ladhams this year

Brodie Grundy and Peter Ladhams AFL Stats Comparison

Ladhams is cheaper, better and younger.

Or another example. Here is against an average, young ruckman in the worst team in the comp - Bailey Williams. It ain’t great.

Brodie Grundy and Bailey Williams AFL Stats Comparison

I’m not quite in the Ludwig school of all rucks are crap and worthless, but we shouldn’t over invest in them. Between Ladhams, McAndrew’s continued improvement, Caleb May being a prospect, hopefully a decent preseason for Hickey, and McLean and Amartey as second ruck . . . . We’ve more than got an investment in rucks
Why would you compare Grundy's form this year when he's clearly be played out of position? If you're going to do that, choose the games when Gawn was injured and he was playing first ruck - I think you'll find on that analysis he leaves poor old Pete and Bailey on the shade. Still a very high quality ruckman, hope to goodness that we're at least making enquiries.

This kinda feels like the right trade, pick 5 plus a swap of second rounders say. We've drafted so many young 'uns in the last few years, unless we had someone really special in mind at pick 5 I'd much prefer to pick up a ready made than another small mid or project tall that will be consigned to the VFL team with Kostansky, Mitchell, Stephen, et etc for the next few years.

Buy some crayons, some colouring-in books and let him know that he's a very lucky boy.

While looking at all options from value for money to premium price for a premium player and especially how to replace a Buddy factor

Would someone like Ash Johnson do very well at the Swans?

Guessing he would not cost the earth in trade but at the same time he is at a club that did a stack of drafts and trades last couple of years and won’t have nearly the budget to go wild on $ to keep him?

            Ashley Johnson | AFL

EVERY Ash Johnson GOAL from 2022 - YouTube

How do you value a player like Ash?
Is he a RFA at 25th a of age now?
Would he be a valuable addition to our forward line with Macca and Amartey developing still?

Cal Twomey's post championships phantom draft - down to 20. Gotta say: based on watching a chunk of the Allies' games and therefore seeing a spread of the talent from other sides too, I'd be loathe for us to give up a spot inside the top 10 as part of any trade - if that becomes a scenario. I'm on the O'Sullivan ticket with Ludwig, but regardless, there's some serious talent there - and there seems to be a bit of a gap between the top 11 named here, and the rest.

We have to keep pick 4-7, whatever we end up with

I think we will win a premiership in the year where it will all click and it will be with a core smattering of top 10 pick players (Heeney, Mills, Blakey, McDonald, Campbell etc). Plus our mid draft steals - Gulden, Warner etc.

                    I’m ignoring academy bidding etc.

We’ve not had that before and I think we can trade in role players and key position targets without giving away a top 5 pick that could be the elite player who takes us over the top.

Caiden Cleary had 36 disposals in the GF of the U18 championship but is not considered in the top 20? Interesting but I certainty don't mind. Maybe a nice cheap one for the Swans.

I don't think I've seen a mock draft board, for whatever they are worth, with him inside the top 20. In fact, most have him outside the top 40. From what I've read, there seems to be a view that whilst he has some strengths (ie: contested ball and ground ball), but there are limits to his impact otherwise. I was probably in that camp pre-championships, but I'm more leaning towards a focus on what he does well, as he does it extremely well. Not saying top 20, but you could easily see him going in that 25-40 range.

I find the 3min short draft videos so tricky to navigate

I naturally get excited to see our potential draftee's in action and what might be

I mean Ling was awesome in Draft video where he got picked with our no14

Stephens looked like he was running across the ground vs other mids in his draft footage and he got picked with our pick no5

Warner just looked like a run and tackle WA rep in his Draft video and now he is a weapon and so to Sheldrick who looked strong but not totally dominant

Reid and Parker looked pretty good in their short videos but not all the pieces of the puzzle

its still such a lucky dip but its fun to watch

Cleary not in the guru's Top 20 - I like that. If we don't trade them away, I'd love to be able to use our first and pick 23 (Hawks is a lock already) before having to match Cleary.

We are well positioned at this stage to deal for GC first for Hawks and our second, but a lot of water to go under the bridge before that transpires.

Must say I'm not happy about the possible largesse from the AFL being touted for Norf because they can't get themselves off the bottom, grrrr

In light of the Harley Reid situation, Logan McDonald has spoken up about being drafted interstate and has this to say:

“I’m so grateful that Sydney took me … I’ve loved every minute here, it’s been so much fun and I can’t wait to keep playing for this club for as long as I can. I do miss my family and friends but I love Sydney and the club have been so welcoming.”
