Just thinking even a little wider and more in alignment with a winning top4 team for 2024/25

Could we actually gain talls right through the centre of our team KPF, Ruck and KPD

Grundy for a 2nd draft pick we already have and maybe make it closer to pick 27 they gave up the year before for Grundy?

Then split our pick5 into maybe a pick 12 and Pick 18? It is possible but not likely.

Barass for pick 12?

Harry Himmelberg for pick 18 and a future second round pick?

Financially I suspect we can afford the 3 in for the 4 lost given the discount net price on Grundy $700k pa and I suspect Barass on approx $650k pa max and Himmelberg on $700k pa ?

We already have Ladhams and McAndrew. Why would we be spending time and money on Grundy. How many VFL ruckman do we need?

We shouldn't be splitting our 1st round pick if it's goo enough to land O'Sullivan. We certainly need KPDs now, but we shouldn't sell out our future in achieving that. We have to find another solution.

Himmelberg is a FA and won't cost a draft pick.

I would throw Stephens in with any trade we do. We are probably going to delist him anyway.

Himmelberg is a free agent, no draft picks required. Thats what makes him so attractive to potential suitors. Similar to McStay from Brisbane to Collingwood last year

Agreed Ludwig- we only should bring HH and possibly Barass in, if we can get him without giving too much away. Plus hopefully Sammy may be available for one more year going by the one off, one on pattern.

The ruck setup will be ok with Ladhams and Stretch, with hopefully another young ruck in the draft.
On Stephens: I would now give him a run of games to either prove himself or at least increase his trade value, which won’t be much if we keep playing him in the twos. I know mathematically we’re not out of the finals yet so Horse will pick his best available. Even though Wicks did a few good things against the Pups, I would rather have Dyl in his spot- I can’t see that he couldn’t do what Wicks does, so it wouldn’t weaken the team at all!

I'm dead against throwing a high draft pick at Barrass because of his age and the fact he's a WA boy and won't be coming willingly. Think he's on big coin too.

Dollars is something I suspect we've got so HH should be the target, a big contract will also net GWS a good pick.

It would be a good off season if we could land HH, O'Sullivan and Cleary.

Stephens is worth very little at the trade table, he's either a one year contract, a swap of late picks or a delist

That does mystify me a little. Along the similar lines to Liz. What position are we wanting him to play for us? And what evidence is there he’ll be able to deliver?

Seen nothing when I've watched TDK to suggest he adds anything to our side, he doesn't do any position consistently, will cost too many $ and draft capital - just NO!

Ladhams and Mcandrew with a young ruck is not enough.
This year has proven that with Injuries. Even if we draft one, he wont play for 3yrs

Id entertain Grundy if Mclean is gonna cost too much, id say if Pies are paying 200k we could get Melb on the payroll too otherwise a 4th round salary dump pick.

Dyl needs to play ahead of Wicks, He can be something next year, hopefully Konstanty is in front of Wicks next year.

I tend to agree with most of your comments here, but to compare McLean to Grundy is a stretch. One is a ruckman, the other a relief ruckman at best.
I cannot see the point in handing over a first round draft pick for Barrass. At 30 years old, has started to look injury prone in recent years it is too much of a risk.
My preference is TDK who at 23 is about to hit his prime. Compare him to Armartey who is a similar age and again is starting to hit his show his potential.

HH is a restricted free agent ie GWS can match our offer and then we have to trade if we want to…….but sometimes the players club is a little more negotiable when the player indicates they are leaving next year anyway.

I think there is a little too much underestimating how much we need a dominant ruckman to help us become a top4 side in 2024

Our centre clearances or lack of them have put so much pressure on our team performances.

We also need a seriously good marking defender like Barass also to help us become top4 again in 2024. Are there better options?

We went very hard at the draft last few years and don’t have a dominant ruckman due to Hickey struggling through injuries and we don’t have a dominant marking key defender now due Paddy Mac most likely retiring - which makes a lot of sense given his medical history.

These are minimum especially if Bud, Hickey, Reid and or paddy mac are no long with us

Im not comparing Mclean to Grundy im saying both are not on our list for 2024 and if we can get some money paid for Grundy and dont have to pay Mcleans ? 350-500k id take Grundy.
If we keep Mclean, i wouldnt chase Grundy.

Grundy for 4yrs at 30 next year,
Hickey for 3, maybe 4 at 29.
Similar deal, Grundy an upgrade

Barass is 28 next year.

I know, im comparing getting Grundy for 4 yrs to when we got Hickey for 3yrs, at the time similar ages and eill probably give Hickey that 4th year
