Of course, if the scores were reversed, they would have spent much of the last quarter droning on about whether Cripps would be right for the GF, who might be able to force their way into the Carlton side and how brilliant the 25 year rebuild has been.

And Collingwood don't have a good record against Brisbane in grand finals.

Go the Lions. I hope they take Collingwood, bend them over their knee and spank the living crap out of them next week. It’d be like Liz sorting an out of control thread on here.

Great to see the Lions get in the GF. Love Charlie Cameron, Ah Chee, etc...And it is fitting that the two best teams of the year are in the GF. Seems like justice.

I would love to see the Lions belt those magpies...Could be a good game....

I thought Keddie Coleman was probably BOG. He did an excellent job of putting the ball where Carlton didn't want it and moving them around. Also won some very important contests. Although, if wasn't for Harris Andrews, it may have been over at quarter time?

I just hope that Charlie sorts out his kicking during the week.

As an aside, about 17 years ago I went down to Melbourne to visit a friend. She said come watch my nephew play junior footy. He was a nuggety little onballer who racked em up, was clearly BOG, could give it a roost, but was a bit stodgy and porky and short annd awkward.

              His name? Oscar McInerney.

              Go Lions.

Happy to see the Lions get there after going close several times.

Very different to last night's game though. Pies/Giants felt like two great sides at their peak, there has to be one winner but could be either of them. Tonight felt more like a regular H&A season result, where one side wins just by being a little better for longer.

There's some quality about teams that went well in finals this year and perhaps all years - I wouldn't call it "antisocial" exactly, it's more "we believe in our game plan and we don't care what anyone else thinks". The Pies have it, in spades. I think the Giants have it too, and so were able to ignore a crowd of 99% Pies fans at the MCG and make it a really close game.

None of the teams that went out early seemed to have it and I was never convinced that Carlton did, despite their good run of recent results.

Do Brisbane have it? They certainly showed character tonight after the first quarter. They have more finals confidence every season and it came good tonight. I don't know that they have enough of it to match it with the Pies, but I hope they give it a good crack.

I think the grand final sides should choose the umpires not the AFL. Like the procecution and the defence choose a jury, vetoing any they perceive as biased from the previous finals.

If any Melbourne based fan is able to make up a sign with a picture of Daicos ripping Toby Greens head off and have a caption of "this is how Collingwood make a Grand Final" ready for the grandfinal parade that would be absolutly amazing...

The AFL is a weird competition. Blatant fouls are paid…until they are not. If you’re a player with a bit of a reputation or a big unit playing for a non-Victorian club apparently you can be targeted at will. Going back, Barry Hall used to be scragged, held, taken high multiple times each match. Buddy endured the same thing. Toby Greene is the latest who can be fouled in a very blatant way with only a small percentage of the free kicks due coming his way. Apart from the obvious one now in the media, he was mauled and scragged, and occasionally hit, all day. Disappointed for the Giants, their run was admirable. Now it’s Come on Lions!!

Looking forward to when Fox Footy are able to provide their own commentary to all games. At least they're not as parochial as Ch 7 and would no longer have to put up with Darcy.

I don't like trend on both TV/radio where a lot of non Vic games are called from the studio rather than from the ground. It appears a hangover from covid as a $$$$ cutting exercise. Relieved to see both networks were broadcasting live from the Gabba. It makes a differene to the viewing experience imo.

Good post. Carlton are in danger of being sucked into the media hype which will come their way during the off season and think top 4 will just happen next year.

Toby buckled at the knees every time he was tackled.

No Swans player would ever do that!

Errol does. I'm just saying that the people squealing that the umpires' failure to pay those high tackles was evidence of bias are full of a word I can't say.
