Man, if true, I'd be really surprised.
It's a conversation for next year, no point talking about it now if I'm the club.

The other point is you don't move a main piece of your midfield from a GF side to bring in Picks.

We don't need Picks, we need upgrades.

Would also love to see Mclean in defence, intercepting

I don't think this list has what it takes and I hope they look at aggressive measures, you cant lose like this twice in 3 years and think she will be right. What concerns me the boys don't look to upset and say things like we wont let this loss define us etc, I just don't think it means enough to them

I am with Paul Roos if the club doesn't think this group isn't good enough to get it done then move some of them on,

I don't think it's any big secret he wants to return west at some point in his career.

We risk getting vastly under value if we wait until next year, if what is being reported is correct. If it is true, we should try to move him on this year in my opinion, we should be able to squeeze more out of West Coast or Freo. I'd hope we'd be pushing hard for a player or player(s) as an alternative to draft picks.

I just think Mclean is too slow to be a good defender - think if we are going down that route, McDonald is the one of the three most likely to effectively transition down back.

If Warner wants to go home send him to the Eagles and try to get Harley Reid. If not, then to Freo for multiple first round picks.

I think it's rubbish to say this group isn't good enough after the H&A season and the first two rounds of the finals. That doesn't mean it can't get stronger, for other clubs will get stronger and I'm not convinced there's much in our VFL team of this season.

I don't begin to understand what happened on Saturday. Or why it happened. But I do think 90% of it was above the head. But if those same players fight back in other games and win, it makes no sense to me that they can't put up a fight in a grand final.

To be honest Liz I am not sure, this list is capable of taking the final step no doubt they are good but to fail twice isn't an accident

Just saw that Parker has requested a trade to North. A disappointing end to a great career with us.

haven't seen that yet, I guess very few players get the fairy tale

And the remaining 10% is below the feet.

                      Not looking good at all.

I saw on AFL.com that Francis is expecting a new contract, which I really don't understand. We already have Hamling, who is probably a better defender, plus 3 capable young defenders who are worth trying at AFL level next year. I would hate to see Francis get a game before any of those.

It doesn't seem like we are looking to improve.

We could try a four way trade - Warner to Freo for some picks, send of them and/or Maclean/Amartey for Clayton Oliver, and to Essendon for Stringer.

Assuming the club thinks it can rehab Oliver’s off field issues, we would get a midfield beast to help us with clearances where we keep getting smashed.

It's pretty hard to find ways to improve the list when we don't even know what's wrong with the team. We can't say if it's the players, the coaches, or what it is that has us performing so poorly in a GF. Most of the comments, including my own, is just flailing about, because we don't know what to do.

With so many young stars on the team, it's going to be hard enough to retain our best players, let alone recruit more top level talent to the club. Our VFL list is about as good as we can do given how few opportunities there are to get AFL games. We will also need to retain the best of these players as well.

The logical first step is to identify what went wrong. Otherwise, we really don't know what to fix or how to fix it.

Yep. My view is if we’re playing Francis, we’re struggling. I’d rather cop the downside of inexperience to get some games into Edwards and Snell.

On another topic. The Chad, who knows? The whole WA and largely the Melb media thought Logan was heading home at one stage. So I’m not sure the speculation he is definitely heading home at the end of next year should be treated as a given. His girlfriend is living in Sydney these days and Chad seems invested. I think we simply need to back ourselves, our culture and our performance to keep him. (Plus, if Freo give their picks and cap space to get Shai Bolton in, that’ll make it harder to have much left over next year. And West Coast is in such a bad place I can’t see that as an appeal).

I don’t have an account on bigfooty but occasionally wander over for a gander or a laugh. What I cannot believe is the amount of Swans fans who are actively wanting to trade him because . . . Pick 3 and 13 (!) or something. Just brain dead stuff. You improve your list; you don’t do it by tossing a unicorn to the kerb. It’s a reminder to stay away from that site. I feel like my IQ gets lowered every time I sneak a peek.

If we could get a good pick and someone of genuine quality/value like an Oscar Allen for instance, you'd have to at least actively consider moving him on this year. I do think the club should play a bit of hard ball - he isn't a free agent next year, so we can't rely on a compo pick to make up for a departure at that point. Have some hard conversations as part of exit interviews this year, and if the club deems the decision is already effectively made, then at least make some enquiries during trade week to see what might be achievable.

There is zero doubting his attacking quality, and ability to break open games. But equally, he has some serious work to work to round out his game. Not for one second saying he can't do it, and I don't think we should let him go easily at all as he is a seriously good footballer - but no one is indispensable, and I suspect to win a flag, we need to find a way to change the mix in the midfield group. I'd prefer that to happen with Chad at the core of it, but the club needs to be realistic about it too.
