I haven't, but knowing that LRT is getting a game, gives me hope that even at 30 and out of shape, I may still get a chance.

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

But playing that many positions I would expect him to atleast get his hands dirty, but I hear he only has a shower after the game to keep his hair looking nice.

McV has been great when on the ground, his only problem is not enough game time.

Yes, those long raking kicks into the F50.

It has been a while between drinks. Lets hope the pair get a fair run on the ground.

When was the last time Roos made wholesale changes unnecesarily? I think the answer would be, Never.

          New Captain.
Maxfield, released of the captaincy pressure.
          Arse Whipped in the media.
3 Losses on the trot. 2 at home.
          4 changes.
          2 Debutantes.
Huge point to prove. (Up yours AD)

Should be a game well worth watching.

            Great, great, great stuff!!

Good to see we might start "grooming" an actual proper CHF. Exciting! Dempster at wing instead of Kennelly? Interesting. If Barry and Kennelly stay in a true HB position we might start seeing some run from there. If they can link up with the booming kicks of Dempster, Ablett and Maxfield - well we might have something here... (provided the forwards make targets and they can hit them)

Moore won't be any saviour but surely he can not do much worse than Bucky and Schneides at the moment.

Disappointed that McVeigh missed out - he would be better than Spriggs in the F50. Also disappointed not to see the Hyphen at CHB. Please let the kid stay and get used to it. We so need a tall CHB. I guess Saddo is not fit enough to be back up ruck? Frankly I would rather Shaw be on the bench as the second ruck. With McVeigh in for Mathews, the Hyphen at CHB and Bevan on the bench.

LRT has also done well on Lucas previously.

I'm a bit suprised that Spriggs keeps his place and McVeigh loses his, I'm beginning to think Paul Roos dislikes the kid (especially as he's played well against his brother previously).

The inclusion of a semi-fit Saddo (he was injured again after reserves game) seems perhaps a little odd on top of the inclusion of Vogels (hopefully now everyone can see how good he is) and the likelyhood of rain.

                  Are you being facetious?
LRT has only played against Essendon once (Round 11, 2003).
In that game he had one disposal and conceded 1 free kick (a prototype LRT performance really ).
Lucas had 20 touches and kicked 3 goals.

...if LRT played on Lucas that day, you must be using 'well' in some strange new sense, of which I am not familiar (English is an evolving language ).

LRT has never done well on anyone.

Leaving aside my opinion of the good games I've seen him play, how do you or ROK explain the rising star nomination against the Crows?

                          a) A fluke that will never happen again.

                          b) A typo (the nomination was meant for someone else but the keyboard developed epilepsy).

                          c) You don't, because like most wanna-be demagogues you're never-ever wrong.

A rising star nomination means bugger all. To win one is fair enough but heaps of blokes that get nominations disappear from sight. And the number of players eligible is pretty small. How many votes did he finish with?

When he started he, for the most part, looked as he does now: tall and fit with ordinary skills and a slow footy brain. But I thought at the time he was the sort of player that looked as though he had the potential to have some potential. Sadly, I do not think he does. I cannot fathom the desire elsewhere expressed to give him 2, 3 or even 4 years to 'learn' to play the position of CHB. Sure players 'improve' over time in the AFL but that is not the place to learn the game. If the Swans see him as a long term project who still has to learn the game they should come to some sort of arrangement with a VFL or SAFL club and send him to one of them for a couple of years. Or something. He is tall, he has very average skills, is slow to make a decision, and positions himself poorly. Notice the difference between him and Vogels this week. One is a footballer.

I'm sure if you go digging you can find some effusive, LRT loving posts by me from earlier in the LRT project. But it's hard to get excited about potential when you have seen no development. I am sick of the "big men take longer" line; maybe in the ruck or body on body, but big men have regular size brains - why can't LRT find the footy? How hard is it to catch a footy? You'd reckon once a game wouldn't be too much of an ask, especially for a big man in defense at the kick-ins.

Very happy to see Moore and Vogels get a go this week.

I am on the Moore bandwagon and I will nominate him right here and now to play a minimum of 150 games of Senior footy. He knows what it is all about.

Vogels has to be admired as he has come from playing country footy last year to Centre Half Forward in an AFL side - he must be a hard worker on the track. Plus he looks mobile and quite skilled from the limited amount I have seen of him.

Hope these 2 guys and Saddo's return inspires everyone else to lift. Also I think Stuey will play a big one this week - the weight is off his shoulders.

                                Go Bloods!
