If height is the key, put Jude in platforms, because LRT doesn't know what to do with it.

Approximately half the player Harley was in his third year.
And where do you get old stats?Comment

I'm looking forward to comparing the start of 2002 for Harley with LRT's 2006 start
And now for a footyhead moment: I would love nothing better than LRT having a blinder this week and proving me wrong. I would love for him to have an epiphany and become a marking, rucking goal kicking ball magnet.Comment

I personally think that LRT has been going alright but the more important issue is who would replace him? Powell? Without him, there is more of a need to play Goodes, B2 or Barry as a key defender and we would prefer that not to happen. B2 on the third tall and Barry on a HBF is our best lineup.
So far this season I don't think we have been hurt by LRT's opponent (I could be wrong). As long as he keeps one of the tall forwards relatively quiet then he is doing his job - and the job that the team needs. It's the players around him that are perhaps more responsible for our current plight.Comment

Good point Sean, when you think about Powell should be in front of LRT!
How many games has Powell played? About 15-20 is my guess in about 4 years. He was our first draft pick IIRC - hasn't done anything of note.
Powell definitely needs to play a minimum 12 games this year to be retained - but if he can't get in the side when Schaubs, Saddo etc are injured then you wonder when he will.
At least LRT can be tried in the ruck but I still have serious doubts he will make it.Comment

If Powell can do the job the I'd be happy to see him given a go but I think at this point it has to be one of them. Otherwise we need to go back to having Saddington at CHB as he is the only other KP size backman (in terms of height). I'd rather that didn't happen - I like him as a player but that's not his best spot.
Basically LRT (or Powell) helps the structure.Comment

Here are the stats.
Compare his season averages 2003 with his averages so far this year. He is slightly down this year! Fewer marks, kicks, goals, hitouts and frees for on average. More behinds and frees against on average. He needs to actually improve, not go backwards if he wants to stay an AFL footballer. He is up from 2004 but that is because he sucked even worse in 2004 than in 2005.
Please, LRT defenders, tell me one good reason why he should remain in the seniors based on some form of actual evidence! The only reason we need him in the team is because we have mainly oompa loompas in the seniors.
His one redeeming quality is: Height: 195cm. Big deal.
Maybe when comparing to Hatley, look at the stats against him. I'd say LRT stands up pretty well. I havent seen him beaten yet. He's obviously been told to play his man tight and sacrifice his own game. Fair enough for a young guy.
I geniunely cringe with embarrasement when I see people laying the blame for our @@@@house start to the year on young guys like LRT who are having a red hot go. Blame the coach, the midfield, the forwards, the other "more skilful" defenders like Kennelly and crouch. Thats where the problem is.Comment

Defenders are there to stop possessions to their oponents.
