If height is the key, put Jude in platforms, because LRT doesn't know what to do with it.

      Gametime?
And where do you get old stats?

So we have to read LRT's figures in terms of his gametime? If he was a better player he would spend more time on the field. It's not like he's on the bench because Syadney have so many other talls.

I don't know. How much time has LRT had on the bench? I remember relief seeing him leave the field on the W/E.

I'm looking forward to comparing the start of 2002 for Harley with LRT's 2006 start

And now for a footyhead moment: I would love nothing better than LRT having a blinder this week and proving me wrong. I would love for him to have an epiphany and become a marking, rucking goal kicking ball magnet.

I personally think that LRT has been going alright but the more important issue is who would replace him? Powell? Without him, there is more of a need to play Goodes, B2 or Barry as a key defender and we would prefer that not to happen. B2 on the third tall and Barry on a HBF is our best lineup.

So far this season I don't think we have been hurt by LRT's opponent (I could be wrong). As long as he keeps one of the tall forwards relatively quiet then he is doing his job - and the job that the team needs. It's the players around him that are perhaps more responsible for our current plight.

Good point Sean, when you think about Powell should be in front of LRT!

How many games has Powell played? About 15-20 is my guess in about 4 years. He was our first draft pick IIRC - hasn't done anything of note.

Powell definitely needs to play a minimum 12 games this year to be retained - but if he can't get in the side when Schaubs, Saddo etc are injured then you wonder when he will.

At least LRT can be tried in the ruck but I still have serious doubts he will make it.

If Powell can do the job the I'd be happy to see him given a go but I think at this point it has to be one of them. Otherwise we need to go back to having Saddington at CHB as he is the only other KP size backman (in terms of height). I'd rather that didn't happen - I like him as a player but that's not his best spot.

Basically LRT (or Powell) helps the structure.

Compare his season averages 2003 with his averages so far this year. He is slightly down this year! Fewer marks, kicks, goals, hitouts and frees for on average. More behinds and frees against on average. He needs to actually improve, not go backwards if he wants to stay an AFL footballer. He is up from 2004 but that is because he sucked even worse in 2004 than in 2005.

Please, LRT defenders, tell me one good reason why he should remain in the seniors based on some form of actual evidence! The only reason we need him in the team is because we have mainly oompa loompas in the seniors.

His one redeeming quality is: Height: 195cm. Big deal.
Its borderline stupidity to rank a defender based on stats. Defenders are there to stop possessions to their oponents.
Maybe when comparing to Hatley, look at the stats against him. I'd say LRT stands up pretty well. I havent seen him beaten yet. He's obviously been told to play his man tight and sacrifice his own game. Fair enough for a young guy.

I geniunely cringe with embarrasement when I see people laying the blame for our @@@@house start to the year on young guys like LRT who are having a red hot go. Blame the coach, the midfield, the forwards, the other "more skilful" defenders like Kennelly and crouch. Thats where the problem is.

I am basing my judgement on observations which are backed with stats. LRT supporters are basing their opinions on blind faith. If you class LRT as a defender, what the hell is he doing kicking behinds and standing around inside the 50m arc at the opposite end of the ground? He has not always had a direct opponent who he has been instructed to nullify, he has played defense, offense and ruck. Name the opponents you think he has kept quiet.

I haven't blamed him for the start to the year, but I question the "red hot go" you reckon he's been having. Last weekend he barely seemed to realize there was a game on, lurking ineffectively around packs and running around chasing the ball for no results. His tackle stats backs up his weak effort whether you like it or not.

Only on stats yes, however the game has progressed to the point where few teams can have defenders who give nothing back in attack. Look at players like Maguuire, Fletcher, Leppitsch, etc.

It's one of their tasks, but not their only one. I can't even recall who LRT has played on, but I don't remember him getting staying on anyone particularly dangerous at any stage.

I wasn't aware that people were blaming him. They were simply saying that they don't think he can make it.
