Word is that Maxfield just felt that after this week he wasn't up to playing tonight. Quite understandable really.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Maxfield had a foot injury I think. That's the official reason anyway.
I guess we can remove the "LRT's opponents haven't hurt us" argument. Got towelled up by Lucas tonight. Plus the passage of play where he was moving up the wing was comical.

Lucas: 7 kicks, 2 handpasses. (2 more possies than LRT) Amazingly straight kicking for goal made a average game look good (ditto rest of bombers).
Just left one important stat out: 4 goals. LRT was smashed tonight pure and simple. You could hear the crowd groan everytime he got the ball. They just know he's incapable of executing a good clean possession.

All the more reason I'm glad Roos is coach and not you.
LRT was not smashed by one of Essendon's top players, proven finals performer, who only managed 9 posessions.
Even Lucas would think his haul of 4 goals was lucky.
This will fall on deaf ears, but Lucas was the lowest posession winner of any bomber who kicked a goal. Lloyd got one more possesion, and one more point. Lets send Leo Barry off the the cleaners shall we?
LRT looks ungainly, but he is very effective. The stats dont lie.

You know what they say about Stats and posters on RWO...
LRT was only directly opposed to Lucas for 1 of those 4 goals lucas didnt out mark him once and Bolton was on Lucas for most of the 2nd half....LRT wasnt a star but again his opponent wasnt a stand out...Lucas had 7 .. possesions if you want to go on about stats I would bet that this was one of his lowest possesion counts for the season.
Yes, he did have one good quick handball in a passage of play on the halfback line.
Lucas did outmark LRT at least once, for his first goal. As for possessions, check what Essendon's inside 50 stats were like. They had much fewer chances than us, and for Lucas and Lloyd to kick 8 from those chances was very impressive.
LRT spent most of the 2nd half on the bench. I think that says quite a lot considering there were only 3 fit men on the bench.
