You are determined to live in a dream world. Third year stats, first five games for Harley:

    42 kicks, 24 marks, 16 handballs, 58 disposals, 2 tackles, 5 frees for, 7 frees against. 0 goals, 0 behinds, 0 hitouts.

Third year stats, first five games for LRT:

    14 kicks, 7 marks, 14 handballs, 28 disposals, 4 tackles, 2 frees for, 6 frees against. 0 goals, 2 behinds, 5 hitouts.

Approximately half the player Harley was in his third year.

Those are some impressive stats. I don't have the actual numbers, but I'd also suggest that he ranks 1st in kicking into the man on the mark.

Just comparing the photos says a lot!

One has the footy against his hip, looking intently for an option.

The other has the ball tucked, rugby style, under his arm and looks "rabbit caught in the headlights" scared.

Are there any stats re how many goals and assists LRT's opponent got while playing on him?Call me old fashioned but when it comes to key backmen I think stopping the influence of your immediate opponent is the main priority.
I am asking because I don't know, not to stir up another debate.

That site is entertaining. I tried Ben Mathews vs James Hird and the stats bring them a lot closer together than one might think.

It would be interesting to compare the performance of Vogels and LRT in Saturday's game.

              Vogels 194 cm 88 kg
              LRT 196 cm 86 kg

Come on. You know its not that simple. How many games had Harley played in total by the time he was in his "third year" (in the AFL of course)? And LRT?

I'd suggest you can add about 40-50 games to LRT's 28 to make say a round 80 in total.

Harley would have played hundreds by the same stage, and probably in far more competitive leagues than anything LRT witnessed until debuting in the AFL.

Must admit the photo they have of him doesn't engender a lot of confidence regardless

I am confident that Vogels > LRT.

I am jumping onto the Vogels bandwagon before it gets crowded.

Exactly. He is not a footballer and if he still has to learn the game the only time they should let him on the ground is at half time.

I really don't care how many games he has played prior to entering the AFL. If that is a consideration, there are eskimos who deserve a game ahead of LRT.

Games in the AFL seniors by the start of his third year: Harley had one in 98 (with Port Adelaide), nine in 99 and then the five games I took for stats. So 15 opportunities compared with 28 for LRT. Stop making excuses!

The only thing true about this is -s a stupid comment, look at LRTs 2003 season and he has done ok this season. He is actually hard at it and take a contested mark, not many of his opponents have had a big influence on any game this year. His development is coming along ok and he is versatile though not great in any one position.

                          Cheers

                            Here are the stats.

Compare his season averages 2003 with his averages so far this year. He is slightly down this year! Fewer marks, kicks, goals, hitouts and frees for on average. More behinds and frees against on average. He needs to actually improve, not go backwards if he wants to stay an AFL footballer. He is up from 2004 but that is because he sucked even worse in 2004 than in 2005.

Please, LRT defenders, tell me one good reason why he should remain in the seniors based on some form of actual evidence! The only reason we need him in the team is because we have mainly oompa loompas in the seniors.

His one redeeming quality is: Height: 195cm. Big deal.
