KSAS Nostradamus!
I'm liking what I'm seeing from Corey, just needs a good run at it and current injuries will assist in that.
Of our suite of contract offers, the two year one through to FA must be a strong choice for Chad, he can walk to club of choice without being worried about the trade getting done.. We keep him for two more flag cracks, only downside is the pathetic FA compo we'd receive, but best hope of winning a flag is with Chad on board.
Corey - go well
If Chad does decides to re-sign short term, i hope the club can convince him to a 3 year deal instead of 2, wiith the assurance if he requests a trade back to WA after year 2, we will oblige as that at least puts us in a good position to extract a good trade as a contracted player rather than a compensation pick as a FA.
keep in mind should Chad re-sign for 2 years he will be a RFA, which means we have option to match bid & force a trade. Of course that will depend on whether we're able to match it, which will be big $$$$.
The media are now calling this a real line ball decision, after recent consensus he would most likely request a trade at season's end.
I'm feeling bit more optimistic he'll re-sign, but long way to go yet.Last edited by KSAS; 3 March 2025, 11:53 PM.Comment

I must say I am getting more and more disillusioned that we need to keep Chad at any cost mentality. I think we have too many chads. Too many outside players that we have tried to create an inside midfielder out of. Maybe the time is right to go and get an inside bull. Or maybe two.Comment

Watching the GWS game and cant but help but be jealous of having defenders who can intercept mark and team of players playing for each other and wanting to do the hard stuff - we have Melican down back who is a real tryer but struggles to intercept or make the right decision to punch or to mark and Blakey is a not KPB, Even Rowbottom had 1 tackle in the wet ! and hes meant to be Mr 1 percent looked like hed rather be somewhere else - I just want our list mangers to find us some key back man and players who want play for the team not their next contractsComment

Not so sure about that to be honest a lot like Sheldrick a very long way from a finished product and not sure either of them will take the next step.
Just hoping this week we play one of Hayden or Ladhams for fwd/ruck coverage and either Hamling or Francise to help out down back.Comment

Cal Twomey reporting that among the offers we have on the table for Chad, the two year one is worth $2.7-2.8m over the two years.
The fact is every club with a half decent list will have a player worth close to that much under contract with the new CBA. It certainly says to Chad that we want him, and he can always double down come the combo of FA, a new CBA and Tassie’s pending entry in a few years.Comment

Seems like poor business to me. Why offer that money over just two years. I’m firmly in the get rid and start giving games to the players we get for him.He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

If we do lose Chad at season's end, the picks we get for him should hopefully be sufficient to match points wise, the touted Academy trio of Carmichael, Chamberlain and King under the new F/S & Academy rules.
We won't be in a position to use those picks to trade in star players from other clubs, other than FA's
Whilst were in premiership window, i think it's imperative to hang onto Chad as long as possible, so i think the 2 year 2.8 million offer is reasonable in today's market.
How we manage to secure the Academy trio if Chad re-signs is another story. Going into trade deficit next 2 seasons might not be sufficient if bids come high.Comment

Not that you want to sacrifice your draft hand completely, but we'd have a good enough handle on future academy crops to know which years we have more talent and more points will be required.Comment
