Sorry I can't agree, maybe ahead of Bice and Lloyd for different reasons - but ahead of JMac no chance and id prefer Cleary for what he could be come.

I'd be happy to trade floreant if there are any takers, I don't dislike him I just think like Parker and Lloyd the team has grown passed him.

McInerney was key to our fast start and is one of the first picked each week.

Jay Clarke on First Crack last night suggested Florent to Carlton for Harry McKay. Intimating both are desperately needed by each.

Florent signed 5 year contract last year. He deserved to be dropped and expect him to excel again in the seniors (same with Lloyd). Why are the media so quick to jump to conclusion players are on the trade table when they're dropped due to form?

Exactly, but there’s a difference between the two- I’m afraid Jake’s time maybe up, considering his age- hope I’m wrong! With Ollie it’s just a temporary loss of form/ confidence and so he should be back in the team soon. I wouldn’t trade him- if McKay wants to come to us, we’ll find a way.

And let's remember, the Melb media version of this trade is Ollie PLUS our first rounder, for McKay - a guy who makes Joel look like a dead eye dick at times.

I'm open to just taking the three academy boys in the draft, given it's regarded as a poor one otherwise. I think it was Cal Twomey that said any of the top seven from last year's draft would easily be a clear no1 this year, and it lacks real quality. But we're not that stupid.

All the draft 'experts' are saying this draft is both weak and shallow, so we really need our academy talent to step up for us. Vic metro the usual powerhouse has been really disappointing.

Journalists, and I use that term loosely to describe AFL reporters, dream up trade scenarios all season long.

Have a look at previous season's trade ideas. Very, very few ever come to fruition, and I doubt Carrton would entertain trading out a Coleman medalist, and doubt Harry would want to move anyway. Best to just ignore the journalist's Harry and JUH jwet dream scenarios, not happening!

I'd try our luck with Amartey and Logan over Mckay.
Curnow would be a different story but not Harry, especially when he is valued at Coleman medal price from 5 yrs ago.

He won it with 58 goals too, pretty sure the qtrs were back to normal length then

Our team is like Swiss cheese- full of holes atm. Logan is gone for the year highlighting the need for a top Key Forward. Ramps, Lloyd and Harry are nearing the curtain and their best is mainly behind them. Roberts and Campbell would not be included in any top team on current form. Wilbur runs hot and cold while Ollie has lost form. None of our youngsters have shown much, though Sheldrick has stepped up and another positive is Wicks down back. Then there’s our awful set shots at goal- low confidence combined with questionable technique. All this explains our current ladder position, though in fairness we’re playing better with Mills, Errol and Paps back.

It seems that last year when Errol, Isaac and Chad were outstanding and we finished on top- that was our opportunity to win the flag. I’m still at a loss as to what happened on GF day- on paper we matched Brisbane. But that’s old hat now and it is obvious to me that we have a lot of work to do recruiting wise if we are to challenge again in the near future.

Yes that’s fair comment. We could have won a couple more and made us all feel better and possibly reach the finals. However, it would only have papered over some cracks- our bottom 4 players don’t contribute anywhere near enough- we lack another key forward, we are not strong enough in the air, rarely play a proper second ruck, and most games get beaten around clearances. Realistically, we can’t win a flag with the current team. This doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the rest of the season if we get our set shots right and play with the endeavour we’ve shown lately.

I think you are on the money here with your comments. In my opinion the reason we lost the grand final in the way we did is two fold. Again, for the second GF in a row, we played injured players ( McDonald and Heeny ) in 2022 it was Sam Reid. Secondly, when we had these injuries, we were totally unprepared as we had not exposed fringe players to see who could handle the pressure when we had the opportunity mid season with the philosophy that you don’t change a winning team. Cox appears to be more open to this.
Having said that, I don’t believe we would have beaten Brisbane, but we all expected a significantly better effort.
The other thing you have touched on is list depth which has been exposed this year which needs to have an even balance between development and experienced players.

One last, I share your concerns about Robert’s, but still hold hopes for Campbell
