this may have been said but on SEN daniel harford has said he spoke to o'keefe the other day and ROK said he wasnt keen on goin into the PSD.

this is because melbourne are first but prob cant afford him anyway and then the next three teams are interstate.

ROK won't go to the psd as it will be more likely he will end up in sth-Aus or west Aus.He wants a melbourne club and can't risk it.

        we'll see

I reckon Pilchard is playing games for media hype. Would be surprised if #16 isnt ours at 2pm tomorrow (and I think that is a dud deal Liz is absolutely right about sub #5 picks).

If it isnt, this will no doubt become the longest thread in RWO history.

Mark Wiilliams at Port might be an interesting one. I have no idea what the Power's cap space is like but he's already made it clear he thinks they have enough youngsters and he'd like to get more experience into the team. So I don't think ROK's age would phase him. And while their GF last year might have flattered where they were at (not the game itself - the fact that they got there), this year they undoubtedly underperformed. They've got to be a realistic chance of top 4 next season.

Added to that, Williams will empathise with the Swans at the moment because he went through the same thing with Stevens a few years back - one of the stronger teams very keen on his player, that player wanting to go there but the club only prepared to offer crap at the trading table. Sure, if he snaffles ROK in the PSD it won't help the Swans out. But we'll have lost him for nothing by that stage so it won't matter to us where he lands up. But it will help all clubs in the future who are prepared to trade fairly but can't get others to do the same and send a message to clubs trying to scavenge quality players by the back door that they can't expect to get away with it. The fact that Carlton will be the team that will most feel it's lost a chance at him in the PSD mght make it sweeter for him.

The question will be whether he is prepared to shaft ROK in the process, given he wants to play in Melbourne.

Believe it will not come to that. ROK is fully aware of the pitfalls..he seems a sensible young guy..his new manager has put him in a difficult position, and the PSD has al,ot of down side for him...specially since he has been offered big $$s from the Swans..too big a riosk for the PSD. Likely scenarios:
                        1. Hawks up the ante tomorrow: unlikely
                        2. Carlton come with their secoind and a very good player
                        3. Essendon: their second and a very good player
                        4. He mends the fences with the Swans

Pilchard is skilled at negotiation. I'm sure the dorks have sent him to every course possible on the subject.

He is in the box seat at the moment.

He has talked to ROK and I'm sure he knows that ROK will not go into PSD. He would have squirmed it out of him.

If they could offer 2 good players and pick 16 for ROK and pick 12 then I would deal on it. After all they were prepared to swap two players for him.

Pilchard has said he is worth a first round pick and player BUT that means they lose their first round pick.

At the moment, he is doing the "walking away from the deal bit". Great player but oh well never mind.

ROK has pulled his own pants down saying that he wants to play for them. They drop their offer he accepts.

Swans are in a dilemma, deal or no deal.

Pilchard waits and waits and waits.

Come 1pm tomorrow. Rings Swans. "hello Stewie have I got a deal for you!"

Your pick 12 and ROK to us.

We give you pick 16 and a hack. I mean a promising up and coming player.

Swans scratch heads. We'll fax the papers through now.

I've just had a call from someone who is a social member of Hawthorn actually gloating about what they are about to do to the Swans.

To be honest I do doubt that this sort of stuff would get out of the inner sanctum but this is what he has said:

"We are very interested and know that we have got O'Keefe as you guys don't have any other genuinely interested clubs...we (the Hawks) have to get rid of some players and it is them we are trying to offload on you guys - THE DEAL THAT THEY THINK THE SWANS WILL CAVE IN ON IS PICK 34 (or is it 32?) and Tim Boyle and Simon Taylor"

I hope the Swans don't buckle or give in to their dirty tactics, but then again Hawthorn has got a history of screwing over clubs!!! Their MBA coach, Pelchen & Kennett afterall think they are superior to any counterparts.

By the way his mail is that O'Keefe will walk out on the club if he has to - If true very disappointing.

Let him walk. Port or wet toast would be very happy to have him.

I don't think the Hawks are in the box seat at all here. If they offer something @@@@, the Swans have no reason to take it because it is very unlikely that O'Keefe will want to go in the PSD. So we still have (an admittedly unhappy) O'Keefe, and the Hawks can keep their #16. Or they could offer what he's worth, and we can do a deal that way. There is absolutely no reason for the Swans to take a deal that is less than what he is worth.
