Goodbye Tadhg!

There will be a time to pay tribute to Tadhg, but retiring in the pre season when the Swans have no opportunity of replacing him via the draft is quite poor."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

He had a poor season and at times was a liability with his inability to tackle and bump. So if his body needs a break, it's best for the Swans that he goes now rather than in 12 months.
A year out of the Swans and Australia now could be a good thing to give him time to re-charge for a couple more years in the AFL from 2010/11. Win/win."As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.Comment

I guess we just have to wait and see what is said this afternoon at the press conference, but as Liz hints at, I suspect that the well documented ops he had post season to fix shoulder and knee may not have been as successful as they would have liked and this season may have been a write off anyway.
If he was going to struggle with injuries and find it hard to compete at his best for what he knows will definately be his last year, it's completely understandable he wants to pull the pin and equally understandable that the club, whilst disappointed, will be supportive of the decision.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

He's probably had a couple of knocks at training and realised his chances of getting through the season intact are not good.Comment

If Laidlaw doesn't grasp this opportunity with both hands he needs a kick up the bum. This is it Matthew...come on down."The Dog days are over, The Dog days are gone" Florence and the MachineComment

Laidlaw's failure to grasp opportunities thus far have nothing to do with any lack of willingness on his part and everything to do with his body, or more specifically his bloody hamstring, letting him down.
A kick up the bum is hardly appropriate under those circumstances. I'm sure if his body stands up he will make it.
I've been steering his bandwagon for a while, even though Reggi say's 'private school boy, no chance'Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment
