    All the best Tadhg
Not if the issue is that his body isn't holding up. He has been so adament that he would see out his contract that it would indeed be strange for him to now just change his mind unless he feels that physically he can't play another season of AFL footy.

There will be a time to pay tribute to Tadhg, but retiring in the pre season when the Swans have no opportunity of replacing him via the draft is quite poor.

He had a poor season and at times was a liability with his inability to tackle and bump. So if his body needs a break, it's best for the Swans that he goes now rather than in 12 months.

A year out of the Swans and Australia now could be a good thing to give him time to re-charge for a couple more years in the AFL from 2010/11. Win/win.

Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

          Gobsmackingly poor.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

... probably not at the Swans though.

... probably just in time for the Blacktown Bogans

I guess we just have to wait and see what is said this afternoon at the press conference, but as Liz hints at, I suspect that the well documented ops he had post season to fix shoulder and knee may not have been as successful as they would have liked and this season may have been a write off anyway.

If he was going to struggle with injuries and find it hard to compete at his best for what he knows will definately be his last year, it's completely understandable he wants to pull the pin and equally understandable that the club, whilst disappointed, will be supportive of the decision.

                  Kennelly to quit

Hear Kennelly will quit this afternoon on AFL website.

Damn - oh well guess it gives another young one an opportunity.

Why don't they quit when we have an opportunity to pick up another player?
                  Love those Swans

He's probably had a couple of knocks at training and realised his chances of getting through the season intact are not good.

Except the timing of the retirement hasn't given another young guy a chance as we never had the additional draft pick to select him with!!

If Laidlaw doesn't grasp this opportunity with both hands he needs a kick up the bum. This is it Matthew...come on down.

                          Bit tough there Satch.

Laidlaw's failure to grasp opportunities thus far have nothing to do with any lack of willingness on his part and everything to do with his body, or more specifically his bloody hamstring, letting him down.

A kick up the bum is hardly appropriate under those circumstances. I'm sure if his body stands up he will make it.

I've been steering his bandwagon for a while, even though Reggi say's 'private school boy, no chance'

I didn't intend to sound tough on him as he has been one of my pet projects since he was drafted due to him going to Carey with my Bridesmaid's daughters. It is a shame facial expressions can't be conveyed over a keyboard as I am pumped for him...this is it...go you good thing.

Would have thought he would have a indication his body isn't up to another season before now.
