        And this gem:

?I was one of the lucky players to have travelled out to a club who did everything possible to make the transition as smooth and painless as possible on and off the field.

        Yep thanks for the thanks.

?I want to help show that there are pitfalls for young players travelling out to work with clubs and players to see how this can be addressed to the benefit of everyone.?

Presumably that will include some stern warnings about the sharp practise of breaching a contract.

?It is so professional. There are so many things I want to bring back to help make GAA more attractive to youngsters than say soccer or rugby. I learnt so much and can?t wait to put it into practice.?

Presumably this means he will take up a well paying sinecure with the GAA which induced the breach of contract.

But don't worry the Bloods are a club of lions led by donkeys. Colless is so weak he will probably carry your bags to the plane and sing Danny Boy as he waives you and our contract rights off.
Tadhg old son you certainly have borne out the saying by George Bernard Shaw - If you put an irishman on a spit you can always find another irishman to turn him. Not much loyalty to a club when it really needed you to be a senior player to stand up and help the youngsters like Stewie Maxfield, Williams, Kelly etc helped you. And hopefully Cork crushes Kerry in this years championship

Good luck with the quest, Tadhg, and thanks for the memories.

To be honest, I feel that he has fulfilled all his obligations and does not owe us or the club a damn thing. To be a 150+ game premiership player is far in excess of what would be expected from the average draftee, let alone a longer-than-long shot punt on a skinny kid from Ireland 10 years ago.

It's sad to see him go.. Hell, it's sad to see others like Fossie, Backwards Benny and Nick Davis go... but we'll cope. We've still got plenty of bodies on the list, really no worse off than a club that cops a couple of unlucky long term injuries in pre-season.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Personally, I understand some of his reasons and feel for the guy a bit (Well sort of). But nonetheless, It's a @@@@ act IMO. He's let us down big time. If he was so concerned about going home, he should of made that decision before the PSD or even the National drafy. All he's done now is @@@@ over the club that gave him a chance to play and paid him hundreds of thousands for the privilege.

Piss poor Tadgh. Piss poor. Hope you pop your shoulder again first game back in the GAA.

Agree that it is a bit on the nose to leave it to now to decide to go back to Ireland. He has been a great player for the Club but has also been well paid for doing his job. Oh well, lets hope some of the youngsters can step up to the mark for us this year again.

How has he @@@@ over the club?

If he decided he wanted to retire last year, his contract (or a significant proportion) would have been included in the salary cap last year. Meaning that we would have probably been over the limit last year and received fines, not to mention the ramifications regarding the draft.

Unfortunately under salary cap rules, just deciding to retire mid contract has massive ramifications on salary cap issues.

Speechless. Best of luck Tadhg. It was a pleasure watching those dashing runs from half back and the long running goals from 50. Wish it could of ended on a better note but not many retirements do.

If he had of retired before the draft (either), we could of drafted another rookie or even simply not delisted someone. Now, we're down a player in our squad and a senior one at that.

It's one thing to want to go home. It's another thing to make sure you don't bend over everyone around you whilst you're doing it. Again, Thanks for nothing Tadgh.

I don't rate ending a contract early, it's a commitment broken and I find it very disappointing .. it will taint my memory of him. We needed him this year almost more than any year.

However, his story is a fantastic one and I will always remember him jumping on Leo when the final siren rang in 2005...Good luck Tadhg.

Surely if he retired because he wanted to go home, the club would be under no obligation to pay his salary for 2009?

                                Sianara Taarrgh,
Has been a great servant of the club up until now. A fantastic player up until the 2007 season. As others have said, the timing of his retirement is nothing but selfish. At least now we wont have to listen to the constant tedious talk of Tadhgs desire to go home.
Given his last 2 seasons have been so poor, due to injury, odds on, this year would have been much the same, so maybe not much of a loss afterall. The bad news is, we're yet another player short. The good news is, a bunch of keen hopefuls are waiting in the wings for their chance. Hopefully one of them will grab it.
