I think the way the Swans game plan goes, is that everyone is given an assignment, and when the last opposition player without a matchup comes up, it goes to Bevan. So he always get a weird looking matchup, like Jarred Brennan or Mathew Stokes or Matt Campbell.

On Saturday, the right Johnson matchup was CB. Right size, best against best. But when he failed, it was Bevo to the rescue (attempt), as usual. This time it didn't work. Let's face it, Johnson is one of the top 5 players in the AFL. If Bolton can't take him, neither will Bevan.

I don't think we realise how valuable Bevan is to the team, in that we usually can throw him into any position, on any part of the ground, and he usually does a pretty good job. A true utility like Bevan is hard to find. He had a bad game against very tough opposition. Let's move on.

This is why Bevo is in the team and high on th B & F list.

I thought some of his second and third efforts yeterday were evidence of a man not willing to give up without a fight. He has the true bloods spirit.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm with Connolly when it comes to Bevo. The rest of you are just crazy people full of crazy talk.

Do you suggest he bomb it or play the boundary line?
I don't want to get into a bevan is a fool - i don't think he is much other than a good ordinary player as i have said before. I retain my dislike for LRT as a player and believe that bevan has improved considerably....not to the point of being

But that was a dumb kick into the corridor where the rest of the team had run off into space. you blame the receiver of the pass - i will always blame the deliverer - they are the one with the ball and they have the choice.

and yes rather than kick to a ruckman with three players on him in the centre square i would rather him bomb it up the line.

defensive perhaps but that is my mind set.

but just to be clear - i have no doubt that had nick davis made that pass i know what your response would have been.

We are all disappointed with the Swans effort against the Cats and looking for culprits to blame. It eases the pain of defeat if you blame one player and have him regulated to the 2's for the rest of his life! Sometimes however, its not the players fault he gets beaten. He is just beaten by a better player. It was Bevan this week, next week it could be anyone. Obviously if it happens week after week the player should get dropped but not after one poor game.Geelong has many better players than Sydney.I thought prior to the game we could match them for most of the game.We can't. Sure Bevan was comprehensively beaten and probably was shattered confidence-wise by the end of the game. I don't believe he should be dropped just used differently.

No point drooling over Johnson's efforts because if he was a Swan.....well maybe he would play differently? However we desperately need a star forward now that MOL is getting up in age. Someone who can take them on and make something out of nothing. Hall is a team player, needs good delivery but will give it off too. Maybe a Moore type of player with Akermanis speed and Johnson skill. Such players are not easy to find. That was the frustration with Davis. He might have been that with a different attitude but it's all over now.In the meantime let Bevan have a red hot go in the forwards.

If there really were footy gods, Stevie Johnson would be a Swan!
He is my favourite non-swan and the one and only player I would pick if big Andie said we could have anybody (including Ablett) from any other team.

Sorry, but you'd take Johnson over Ablett? That's lunacy! The only player I'd consider taking ahead of Ablett would be Franklin.

This week will be a real test for Bevan because it's very likely that he'll play on LeCras who was unlikely not to have kicked 10 goals against the Demons. We can't afford a repeat of his performance against Steve Johnson.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

                        I'd rather Riewoldt than either.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

He has beaten Le Cras in the past. We can't afford another repeat of Bolton's performance either.

Nah. Franklin has that freakish ability to create scoring opportunities out of even the @@@@test passes, something that would be extremely useful at the Swans. He's the sort of player that can collect a grubber, wheel onto his left or right and slot the goal from 50. And lately, we've been kicking a lot of grubbers. Roughead would face the same problem Hall does.

The only reason I'd choose Roughead over Franklin would be the fact that he can play in defence as well.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

LOL. Attacking our best defender only makes the pro-42 argument even more ludicrous.
