    WTF??

If it wasn't for B2 we'd be running second from bottom.

The point is he was taken apart by Johnston in the first quarter. We can't afford to have Lynch, Hanson or the neville nobody that may be playing on the Eagles forward line to take the game by the throat. This has happened to us twice in spectatcular fashion with Pavlich and Johnston. It should be rather obvious that we can't afford it to happen again.

Seen a full tape of the game yet? Maybe you should reserve your comments untill you have actually seen the game in replay. I'm not attacking Craig Bolton just pointing out the obvious that only Blind Freddy or someone who hasn't actually seen the game wouldn't know about.

Watched a replay of this match last night, with a particular eye on Bevan. Gotta say never seen any player have such a bad game - absolute shocker!

Part of it was bad management (ability) - but the majority of it was sheer bad luck.

In the first quarter Bevan and Bolton were switching back and forward between Johnston...he kicked points on Bolton, and goals on Bevan.

Halfway through the second quarter the commentators were saying Bevans having an absolute shocker....then things got worse from there. The massive shirtfront!...and the kickout in the last minute.

In this weeks review of the game I hope Roos asked Bevan to leave the room. He doesn't need to see it again, it's not going to help him. Hopefully he will have his memory wiped.

Good Luck! He's going to need it. Hopefully with Crouch back soon we won't have to rely on him so much - and less pressure on him.

Calling ideas from your imagination "facts", doesn't make them true. Bevan had an absolute shocker. Admit it!

Now lets never speak of this again. He will be in Red and White next week, and will hopefully have forgotten this game. We should too...

He did not play the worst game in history. The hysteria in regard to the Bevantor by some borders on pathological. He did many fine things in the game. He simply never put his head down or tried to hide from the packs. Why was the cheap shirtfront by a bigger player, when the kid gave a bullet handpass and then took his medicine, part of having a shocker? It showed his courage and committment under real pressure. The players who had the real shocker were the ones who went missing. Its a very bizarre view of football to single out a kid who always competed as having a shocker when one player in particular simply put the white flag up after the first twenty minutes. There were others, some of them kids who should remain nameless. His kick over the line was into a strong wind, trying to get distance and he over stepped. A hanging offence apparently because the kid was still giving it everything he had in the last minute of a match against a big strong champion team when we were well beaten. In boxing fighters who get up from the canvas after being flattened and fight it out after being outpunched are respected for their character. And because that sport isn't just about winning but about the courage to face fear. I had enormous respect for his effort (no hyperbole) particularly for the real anguish on his face after he kicked over the line. He was hurting. He'll pick himself up and be hard at it next match. Bevan was often beaten on Saturday but wouldn't stay down. i respect that. On and off a football field.

Pathological...correct - as exemplified by the statement above.

Bevan had a shocker. Admit it!

I'd hate to think that you think that's as good as Bevan can play.

No not the full game, but enough. Regardless, I judge Bevan on his career, not on one game. As you know, I made my mind up a long time ago - about him in DEFENCE.

On the point of Bevan being "unlucky" to be shirtfronted, it is again an example of his lack of both vision and football brain that he gets himself smashed way too often... and looks like a park footballer playing against men. There is nothing "cheap" about a fair hip and shoulder to a player who leaves himself open. It is what is expected.

You really need to start lifting the expectations bar. I for one am not prepared to applaud mediocrity for another 72 years.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.

The shirt front was instructive. Instinctively a player will opt for self preservation. It takes real courage and self discipline to do what Bevan did - dish off a perfect handpass and then take the hit. I beg to differ. Rather than it being an example of the vision of a park footballer - who in my experience in the park usually avoided heavy hits - Bevan showed real vision. The handpass was a lookaway that hit its target and he saw the cheap shot merchant coming. (If you doubt Mooney is a cheap shot merchant have a look at some tapes of his early career in particular). Rather than brace himself and have the ball spill, Bevo gave the handpass off and then took the hit. Possibly the most ignorant self opinionated special comments man in any code of sport, Pickering predicably mis-called it. By the way i remember Pickering as a footballer. Played with a very light touch. And in Bevo's situation would have braced himself and spilled the ball in sheer terror.

But how often do you see backman so far behind their opponent they take a easy mark and NO CHANCE for defender to otherwise make a bigger fool of themselves!?

Bevan ...had a go and stuck to it to the end.

Well done!... his endeavour has always impressed me. Would have done better than some "others" in mid rotation and crumbing for goals!
