Not a lot to select from. (Although White missing was a disappointment, I hope he gets over his flu, and plays the Blues next week.)
You can't blame the cattle for the coaching decisions.

The main bones for me are:

    1. I assume Roos had a game plan for beating the Bombers. This plan included McVeigh and didn't include Pyke, meaning he was going to play with one ruckman. McVeigh didn't make it through the warm-up, so was replaced moments before the game, a midfielder for a ruckman, presumably completely changing the gameplan. How did this effect the team structure and the individual players? I don't think Roos asked himself this question.

    2. LRT and Richards forward. Shocker of a choice. There was a thread last week discussing the possible forward line options for next year with Hall and MOL. Had anyone discussed this as an option they would have been absolutely taken apart. There was a multitude of options available to Roos and I don't understand why this was the choice.

    3. The midfield. As posted previously lacks application. Don't know if it's Roos or the midfield coach - but they don't appear to be playing as cohesively as in the past. What's changed?

    4. The perserverance with the old group when we have youngsters who have shown ability. Why weren't they given an extended run? Why was Ablett selected? Hopefully this will no longer be the case.

I think Paul Roos is an excellent coach. I don't think his support staff is as good as it once was.

Thats it! there is a positive in it for us despite the loss.If we had blooded a few against Essendon and the result was the same we could all see some positives. There was no way we were going to win after the Hall retirement, the selection confusion(Pyke for MacVeigh??)and to see Ablett,Couch and other guys whose use by dates have expired hold down a place while younger players are left out is not good long term team development.

Given that those four won 12 or 13 flags between them from the mid 80s to the mid 2000s (plus Pagan's outstanding run as North Under 19s coach - four or more Prems??) it does however support the theory that plenty of people on here post without thought, or without knowledge...

I Agree Midfield! This is a DISGRACEFUL thread!

I'm going to the Hall Of Fame Ball this week! Why? Because I SUPPORT this great club. Many on here are only happy when things go their way. A couple of things are not going well, lets bag them. It's someone's fault !Roos, it must be his fault. It's not Bazza's fault! He kicked 4 goals in his last game. How could it be Bazza's Fault. He wasn't even playing against the Bombers so we can't blame Barry can we? Oh hang on a minute. Why wasn't he playing yesterday against the Bombers? that's right. Roos didn't pick Barry Hall in the team. He should have! No.....................Bazza punched Ben Rutten in the face..............OUT FOR TWO WEEKS............REMEMBER! His own fault! Not Roos' fault!

                  IDIOTS!
Barry Hall has unsettled this club! Nick Davis has unsettled this club! Ex players have unsettled this club! That is what happens at Richmond! People that aren't in the know hurt clubs. Just support them. Help them when they ask for it but don't interfere!

Just p.ss off & watch another sport, perhaps follow the Bombers for the next few years. They'll be up there. Come back when we start winning again!

There's not enough room on the Swans bandwagon when we are playing finals anyway...................................move on............go on!

                        What's with the sanctimonious posts?

Every posts of yours I've read over the past few days contains something along the lines of: all you supports suck - you aren't real supporters.

"FM, how did some of you survive as supporters when things were really grim.... were you even there?"

"plenty of people on here post without thought, or without knowledge... "

"Once again it?s a case of a few people claiming they know what?s going on inside the football club better than those in the club itself.

No doubt this will lead to me being tarred as ?na?ve? by some of the omniscient posters of RWO, but I seriously can?t see how anyone can think Hall has been dudded by the club."

This is a fan website, where the vast majority of posters are passionate about the Swans. What do you expect people to post regarding their team? What a great effort? I can't wait to see more of the same next week? No - what's so wrong with seeing a problem and suggesting ways for it to fixed.

How about you converse with your fellow supporter without calling them all IDIOTS...that's what they do at Richmond.

That's the thing though, most of the posts currently are not about "suggesting ways to fix the problem" they are about slagging all and sundry connected to the club.

Despite the lacklustreness, Barlow continues to improve, Grundy continues to improve, Bird continues to improve, Jack continues to improve, Smith is finding his feet well enough and Vez is showing glimpses of what he might become. A 3rd game ruckman was part of the best play of the day, at least from the Swans.

I'd love for Meredith and Currie to be in the team, but can't really blame their absence on the senior coach. Maybe we can blame White's absence yesterday on him but none of us really knows how sick he was and it may well be that a few games in the reserves playing as a key forward will aid him when he gets to play that role in the seniors.

Those who want the club to play all the kids, or even argue for a season of serious tanking better get used to performances like yesterday's. Someone commented in another thread that that was as bad as it gets. People who think that way might want to find another winter occupation for the next couple of years, and then jump back on the bandwagon when our current 18-21yos get a bit stronger, a bit fitter and a bit more match savvy and are ready to show us what they are capable of.
I haven't posted that I want "the kids" to be given as many games as possible, whether they are ready or not.

I just want form to be rewarded. I don't get to see the reserves, so I take note of how people say they're going.

I didn't read anything suggesting Ablett played well last week. I do agree he - and Buchanen too - should get a few games to see if they're worth keeping, or have any trade value. But only if they are going well in the 2's.

Roos has also made (imo) some poor list management choices.

The recruitment of Chambers?? WTF. Seriously.

He has consistently gone for "best available" in the draft, which I think is a completely stupid notion.

Held on for players who we're clearly past it.

Kept giving games to out of form players.

Consistently played players clearly struggling from injury instead of promoting a player from the 2's to play that role.

Surely if he'd done the last more often in the last few years we'd have more of an idea about Schmidt, Laidlaw, Brabazon and Thornton, all who are 22-23 and played less than 10 games.

We're coming up to a draft generally considered to be the worst in quite a few years, followed by some compromised by GC17, in which we're going to have to take more players than the bare minimum we've been taking in previous drafts that we're considered a lot stronger.

Basically I think he did an amazing job turning the club around when he took it over, but I think those days are passed and we need someone new pulling the strings. Much like his stalwart players he's been physically punishing for the last 6 years, I think his ideas are old and tired.
