Not really surprising. With the draft you always win some, lose some.
    Good luck to the boys.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Would not surprise me in the slightest if they re-rookied Gilly. A lot worse prospects have been given second chances over the years.

If Currie is happy to stay with the Swans knowing that his chances of playing in the Firsts next year are almost nil, it would be good to keep him - after all the Ressies need a ruckman.

What did Rogers say about Ed? For the moment looks like he is still clinging on by his finger nails.

                Surely Barlow will be next.

Any truth in the story that Moore's ankle injury can only be managed and not cured?

                      a) we can't afford him and b) how would we offer Brisbane a better deal than the Suns will with a pick from say 5 to 10 in the draft?

No hope of a "big name" this year. There might be a McGlynn/Kennedy/Mumford type out there for a 2nd round pick that we are unaware of though.

Apparently Power from the Lions wants a 2 year contract, Lions only offering 1 year. Turns 31 in January but you'd think he would have 2 years left in him. Wouldn't be a bad pick up

There was talk last year that Carlton were very keen on trading for him. No idea if that's true. But he might be perceived to have some trade value.

Not sure he'd add anything to the team that we are overly lacking. His days as a quasi-onballer are probably past him and he'd be filling a role that we hope Rohan, Ves etc will grow into.

Other than the need to keep adding quality at the young end of the list, the most obvious weakness is a lack of depth in the key position roles, notwithstanding Johnston and Reid waiting in the wings. Roos has frequently commented that part of the key to the rejuvenation of players from other clubs has been to a) recruit for a specific role and b) guarantee that they will at least start the season in the best 22. Unless an absolutely dominant KPP falls into our lap, it is hard to see where there is room to guarantee a starting spot. We really need someone wiling to come to the club as depth. As such, I'd have thought that a mature player in one of the second tier leagues makes more sense - maybe even an ex-Swan, like Faulks or Rowe who both seem to be doing well in the VFL/SANFL.

We have to hope that Jesse grows into his role. But he may not. And we'll only get limited games from Braddy. Do we need to trade or develop a tall forward? Pyke would be a possibility but it'd be a big ask, though finding him another position might be necessary if we are to fit him, Mummy and Seaby in our best 22 in 2011.
