Where would Setanta fit in our side? Id be very distressed if this one happens.

I cant imagine why we would bother with Setanta however I would love to see us get Sherman.Occupational hazards:

I really hate Sherman after he did the shushing thing at the SCG last year but he is a good player. Cheese ought to just about fit under the Lions salary cap you'd think.Last edited by Lucky Knickers; 17 September 2010, 09:16 PM.Comment

Wouldn't mind them taking a look at Grigg if he wants a move. At times he's looked like a million dollars, at other times a bit of a spud. But he's a tall, athletic and powerful runner who could add something to the "outside" part of the gameplan. Suspect he will be lured to Gold Coast though, if he does decide on a move.
Not as down on the idea as Setanta as others, but only as depth for our tall brigade. He can play at either end of the ground and has played some pretty good games. But not as a trade for Veszpremi (who I hope decides / the club decides to stick it out for one more year). Send'em Cheese if the club sees some value in Setanta - the Blues were apparently keen on Barlow a year ago.Comment

He's too inconsistent. Has poped up now and then for some great games but just goes missing too much. The thought of Setanta in the red and white sends shivers down my spine. He might have that flexibility to play both ends of the ground but as mentioned, what about John Anthony? He'd be a far better option than Setanta, at least we know he's capable of kicking goals (50 last year) and was recruited as a key backman so can play both ends. Not only to mention that he's ONLY 22. There's room for improvement with Anthony where as Setanta is 27 and doesn't look like he'll turn into anything special.Wouldn't mind them taking a look at Grigg if he wants a move. Obviously the club knows more than what we do but seriously Setanta?? There are better options out there. My Man Mumford!Comment

When Roos was asked on OTC why the Swans were so successful in their trading strategy, one of the reasons he gave was that they targeted players who they feel will be part of their best 22. Who would Setanta be replacing in the current lineup? Most likely Jesse White, but it's arguable whether that would an improvement (even with my Swans-coloured glasses on).Not as down on the idea as Setanta as others, but only as depth for our tall brigade. There is also the opportunity cost involved - the cost of the players/picks we would send to Carlton and the cost of a spot on our senior list, which seems very tight at the moment especially if Horse is keen to bring in more players.Comment

Interesting that Lewis Johnstone's name is mentioned as one being anxious about his future at the club. Not so with Vespremi.Last edited by Cheer Squad; 18 September 2010, 09:18 AM.Comment

Reading between the lines that confirms that Johnston, Currie and Vespremi are all going to be staying after getting assurances they are needed.
The other read between the lines is that we (very rightfully) are targeting a midfielder and one that hopefully has a bit of speed and has good disposal and decision making skills.
You can remove any reference to Setanta.

The Suns have 12 of the frst 30 odd picks.
If they want Brennan, all they simply have to do is use one of their picks and trade for him.
Taking a non contracted Rischitelii has nothing to do with it.

The one thing we do know is that all 3 are contracted till the end of next year so they won't be going unless a good offer comes along.Comment

YOu would think Lewis Johnson woudl get game time in '11...
He broke his foot this first year didn't he, and probably needed to get bigger bodied in 2010....
i am hoping Reid gets more game time this upcoming year, i liked what i seen when he played....
Tambling has been thrown around, would the swans culture turn him into the player he should be..
Brown reckons he should be more on the ball with his skills etc...Comment
