Am very glad I had Art class today....gave up getting updates in the 3rd quarter so as not to spoil the day for everyone else.

I am now down a packet of chocolate bullets to a Hawker I walk with. Thank heavens I don't work much now so I won't have to face the millions of Hawks fans. The French class I go to on Monday mornings don't even know what football is so that is fine by me.

    Next week.........there's always next week

Grundy must have listened to the commentary from last week where Roos was gushing over how good he is and got ahead of himself..

Since when are you allowed to shepherd ion the ruck contest??
several times today, it seemed Mumford or LRT were up against 2 or more "ruckmen".

That was so average I'm not even going to worry about it. Although poor basic skill errors are hard to take!

I'll face up to it if we lose next week. I've seen this happen before and we bounce back so i'll reserve judgement.

OK one more thing - young forwards will get beaten EVERY single day of the week by experienced, older defenders.

Well that was fun wasn't it.

Our skills have been pretty @@@@ all year but they hit a new low today. When you don't hit targets a half decent side will hurt you.

TLM will be interesting since finding 3 players deserving of votes will be a tough ask.

Only highlight was I got to meet the lovely Erica today. Thanks for coming over and saying hi Erica.

Just quietly I am a bit pleased we got to play west coast as easily in the season as what we did. They are looking seriously
                Good at the moment.

I didn't get to the game until about 2pm because I had 7 yr old Precious Princess with me. My seats are in Row N 91-94. That is the last row in the front section immediately above the food/alcohol mezzanine level.

I caught up with Big Al at half time because my son has met him before and wanted to say hello to him. Such is the magnetism of this man!!!!!!!

Normally on a kids free day, I'll sit with Big Al watching the ressies.

we were certainly ball watching today which was the saddest part for me..........

What is still driving me crazy is the ROK kick out of the pack with no look..................today i counted 3 times where he did this to no one ie the gap between the midfield and the forwards.........then the hawks ran the length of the field on a fast break and scored 6 pts each time........THAT IS 18pts that absolutely killed us when the game was still up for grabs !

now until we have big dominating targets up front, the opposition will be coached to play in front because (A) they can and (B) while ever we doing blind kicks from the middle of the field we will have the opposition defenders run into broken play and we simply dont have the speed to catch the top8 teams !

Richmond's running game on the weekend would have destroyed us also !

I would usually agree with this -but where exactly were the incredibly experienced hawk defenders. Most of them were Sitting in the stands. In any case it is the midfield which was so disappointing and the absence of leaders -most particularly our least reliable set shot kicker who missed from 10m at a time we desperately needed to kick a goal.

Not happy with our application after quarter time.

For those reserve watchers, can I have an honest opinion on Mark Seaby? I am really frustrated at him not being in the team (frustrated that TDL is also out), but really see an important role for Seaby, sick of stop gap measures used to rest Mumford.

Can't agree more. LRT is simply not a forward and we have to make a decision here. Either we have a forward who can ruck a bit or a ruck man that can go forward.

Fwiw it's just worth noting that even though Jesse mightn't be anything particularly wonderful I reckon he was better for us than LRT in that role.

Either play Grundy or Ted forward because both of them are better than LRT forward of centre and have LRT stand a tall forward or play a ruck man who can play forward.

I've had a cold shower and have calmed down now.

We are in desperate need of a forward structure. What does LJ have to do to debut? So what if he is still abit thin but he's not that much thinner compared to the other debutants.

First qtr was great and then what happened. Four goals in 3 quarters of football.

I don't know if anyone's clangers stood out more than anyone else's. It makes you wonder what was going on in their heads. They might be worried that the Swans won't have enough money to pay them.

The Hawks played superior football and anyone who saw them demolish St Kilda last week would not be surprised by the result today. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks we can improve but then North will be very hungry for a win after last night's loss and then we hit a J. Brown with 2 games under his belt.

Tigers on current form won't be easy either. However, if we play like we did today then we will be giving the Suns another victory for the season.

I agree with TDL i don't agree with seabz mike pyke should come straight back in after his strain if we need a second ruckman he deserves it more as he was a better player in the 2s. They are trying to get TDL to be a defensive small forward and tackle a lot more in the forward 50 and i think they just have to let him get better at it in the seniors because we lack any sort of structure up forward.
