Do we still have a no dickheads policy?
103 pages about nothing much in particular.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Latest I heard on radio this morning is that the deal with AFC 3 years ago had an extra $100,00 per year outside the salary cap.

I somehow feel because of this the AFL will find a way to make it happen. I would imagine that Ireland's statement about making the Tippett deal happen was made after consultation with the Tippett camp, and we can interpret that as meaning that they still want Kurt to come to the Swans. I am sure those in the Tippett camp have been instructed to say nothing, which is why we have heard nothing from them for some time. Everyone will wait for the AFL to speak first before deciding what to do next.
        Agree with this.
The fact that the AFL banned Kurt Tippett from being traded could open up all sorts of legal issues that the AFL will definitely not want to take on.

For those who like to take Gerard Whateley on his word please direct your attention to the September 2 episode of Offsiders where he intimated that Sydney would be knocked out of the finals in straight sets, no less by a Geelong team that knows 'when the right time of year to start playing good footy is'.

Whately is a tool who thinks he knows more than he does.

I had an argument with him when the broadcast rights came out. He was wrong and couldn't admit it.

BTW - as a Geelong supporter he would say what he said above.

              Wow what a saga!!!

I'm confident that Ireland, Beatson, Longmire and co have this in hand and Tippet will be in the red and white next year.

Why else would they have cut so deeply into the list at the last minute?

Everyone knows the Swans target players. If Tippett ends up in Orange, guess who will end up in Red and White? GWS are in a good position to get him, but it would be a very dumb move on their part. For an organisation that has been so cleaver up till now, I can't see them undoing all that good work with one speculative move.

GWS chasing DirtyKurt, may be nothing more than the latest publicity stunt for the "Kevin Sheedy Publicity Show" rather than a genuine intention from Kevin Sheedy football coach.

I guess he could have told them on Facebook, much more personal and certainly more official, if it's on Facebook, it's gospel...
Yer I'm with you Trips, never really understood what the problem was. If he had have rung each player personally, by the time he got to player 5 players 1,2,3 and 4 would have all rung other players and then he would have been in trouble for not telling each one personally.
He could have told them at their B & F, but considering he had already announced his intention to leave I can't imagine that would have gone down to well either, so text or an email was the only way to get his message to a large group at the one time and the poor bastard has been crucified for it.

It's not like he ever made a secret of the fact he was going, it was only the where too that was up in the air.

Please don't delete / close down this thread. I find October to normally be the dullest month of the year, sports wise. But for me, this saga has been so interesting and so much fun seeing the AFC dig themselves deeper and deeper.

The next really interesting thing for me will be what the AFL comes up with for KT himself. It seems unanimous that AFC and Blucher are in for serious penalties. But the KT position is problematic for them. The article quoting the Melbourne lawyer is definitely a big problem. In my own business, over the years I've been on both the hiring end and resignation end of staff moving between competitive companies. Despite there typically being clauses in their employment contracts restricting various things, we are ALWAYS advised by our legal eagles that such restrictions of an employee will almost certainly not stand up in court. So the employee wanting to jump ship has always got their own way. Yet the AFL needs to balance this with the need to set an example so that all other players are aware of the risk.

Thus, the AFL will need to find a suspension that: 1. Is enough to send the right message; 2. That is small enough for KT's team to cop on the chin publicly; and 3. Keeps potential destination clubs interested. Tricky.

My conspiracy theory is that the AFL will negotiate with KT's team behind closed doors before settling on his penalty. Whilst this is not the way discipline should be determined, it is the way commercial legal disputes get resolved.

I can't wait for the next instalment in this saga.

I'm with you on surviving October.

My conspiracy theory (and this one is much more stupid):
I've just watched the GF again. Notice that the camera cuts away from the Swans building to score a goal to show Andrew Demitriou leaving the game. A minute of so later an unidentified man wearing an Adelaide Crows top over his other clothes tries to take the field and is wrestled to the ground. I thought at first that it was AD, but a slow-motion replay revealed that its an imposter.

Obviously Roy Masters has used his media contacts to have the DVD edited like that to make people think that AD is a mad Crows supporter in an effort to discredit the AFL and the Crows, allowing the NRL to establish a new team in sports-mad Adelaide. Unfortunately only AFL die-hards watch the DVD so this plot failed.
So Roy came up with the whole Tippett scheme instead - even better he manages to spread some muck to the Swans too !
This time he just had to keep sending anonymous tips to his colleague Emma Quayle. Brilliant.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.
