I would suggest that if we eventually land him he will one very committed footballer.

HS believe Tippett will go in the ND. (More picks before ours, presumably, but the opportunity cost to other teams is much greater here - they will forfeit accessing the best young talent in the top 20) By the time the PSD comes around, lists will be set and any team that still has a pick (s) will be comparing Tippett to a field already picked over. (We will probably come into 22 again once Adelaide loses its pick 20.)Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

Can see the Lions picking him up as they really need to take the load off Brown.
If we don't get him I can see up making a big play for a marquee type free agent next year. I'd be quite interested to see the organic development of this squad to be honest, I think in the long term that Geelong-type model is what we are about (notwithstanding their shrewd trading this year).Comment

Thanks for the feedback, but I was just stating my opinion and how it has swayed through this whole drama. Unbelievable to you maybe and I'm sure you're right but a lot of us fans have had a lot of conflicting views on this whole saga. Apologies to anyone else who is offended that I have not been 100% behind this even though AFC and this guy's people thought he was good enough to sign him to some (allegedly) very creative contracts that may or may not be on the nose.....
And the idea we would keep a player on 800,000 in reserves for any length of time to make a point in the way that we were able to with morton is laughable
And those people who go on and on about our recruiting...we have done really very well with the trading but you cant say we have always done the same with our drafting. I am so happy with how we have gone with our squad but I actually think the coaching and character of who we have has a lot to do with that. Is tippett's character so good ? and our drafting is not without mistakes. Lets not forget we were prepared to trade jetta and rohan for dustin martin. Look at our first round picks for the past 6-8 seasons. we make mistakes as do other clubs.
anyway what do i know. sometimes it just makes me feel better to say itComment

In all the excitement I overlooked the irony of poor Jesse once again being the superfluous man.The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

Tippett?
Yes, wouldn't RWO be better if no-one ever disagreed, offered different opinions or indeed thought for themselves. We could all just repeat or paraphrase the club's latest press release ad-nauseum. And of course there would be no need for all those tiresome accusations of disloyalty to the Swans, because we would all be equally good at towing the party line.

After reading the articles of both Quayle and Wilson in The Age this morning I get the feeling that Tippett is facing a really heavy penalty.
They suggest that the AFL told the AFC on Monday that they could not trade him - and that they cannot de-list him now. I can think of no other reason to stop him being moved on other than the AFL not wanting another club getting short-changed in a deal as it knows that he will shortly be de-registered for a lengthy period of time.
Reading between the lines of the Swans' comments also makes me think they are getting a little cold on the idea, considering the current climate. Even though Andrew Ireland said "Our position on Kurt has not changed, and pending the outcome of the AFL's current investigation, we remain committed to recruiting Kurt for the 2013 season" I get the feeling that all bets are off if he is de-registered - their statement of assurance seems more like a prudent comment from a legal standpoint, rather than an affirmation that they will be chasing Tippett regardless of sanctions.Comment
