Nice idea Rod. Sadly a player can't nominate solely for the rookie draft.
Tippett!!

If anyone is draft tampering it's the AFL, as they have forced someone into the draft who was offered a legal contract that was going to be accepted. There was nothing wrong with the negotiations with the Swans. I don't know if any of the parties involved would be willing to take this to court (the only realistic one is KT), but KT would almost certainly win if he did. I'd be happy if he went to GWS with the kind of salary he's asking for, then we could make a play for Patton or Cameron when contracts are up for probably half the price.Comment

The latest instalment by Caroline Wilson: Reid in the spotlight over Tippett scandal
"The Crows were not prepared to take on White and his relatively costly contract but Sydney would not take Tippett without off-loading White because it needed the room in its salary cap."
If she is correct (and based on her past performance it is a big IF), how can we draft KT in the PSD at the same reported salary? I thought Jesse was on $200-300K p.a., so it suggests we still need to reduce our salary bill somehow by this amount to fit KT in. What options would we have? ...
- Jesse nominates for the draft? (Does this solve the problem?)
- Offer KT less money? (This would make him more affordable to other clubs)CIA Agent to Policeman: "Have you ever had anti-terrorist training?"
Policeman: "Yes, I was married once."Comment

I rather thought that with Meredith and Nipper gone there is enough room for White in the cap now. We do not have to trade him, unless he still wants to go.
As for Tippett I have reached the 'meh' stage.
With all the machinations going on, its going to be a fascinating few weeks of 'wait and see'.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

I didn't like Carro's suggestion that the AFL would prefer he go to Qld, but if not, GWS rather than the Swans! Why???? Doesn't this just mean that they are endorsing the Crow's original under the table deal????? Doesn't it mean that Sydney, the jilted player in this, is the last cab off the rank???Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

I have been saying that the AFL should want KT to go to the Swans, otherwise they risk a legal battle. It may well turn out that Tippett can enforce his agreement with Adelaide to trade him to the team of his choice, despite the rules the AFL have in place against such manipulation.
As for GWS, if anyone has played the system to an advantage beyond the intent of the AFL it is them. It was never meant that they should corner all the top draft picks for 2 years. On top of that, if they get Tippett as well, that would really be OTT. What they have done is draft tampering within the technical specifications of the rules, but not the intent.Comment

Didnt they just do that by trading TDL and spangher and delisting moore and seaby. They would have been on at least 150-200k each wouldnt they.Comment
