GWS has the cash needed in 2013 but from then on it will get a bit tighter for them so that's what they'll be working out.

If Tippett indicates lukewarm agreement to going they'll grab him for sure. If he appears really unwilling to go I reckon they'd hesitate with him wanting a four year deal, that's a long time to support an unwilling draftee.

We're not dead yet but think our odds are lengthening considerably, particularly if the AFL try an engineer an outcome that they want.

Still think the AFL would prefer he heads to Qld as they must be getting a bit nervous they may have inadvertently created a juggernaught at GWS and that will be to the AFL's detriment, particularly the lower Melbourne based clubs.

Are you referring to him saying Tippett, should he come to the Swans, would be paid next year less than what he made this year at Adelaide? It was a quote that was discussed on here somewhere (probably this thread) and all it means is the contract was back-loaded. $3.2 million over four years doesn't necessarily mean $800,000 a season.

GWS would have known the Izi experiment was going pear shaped. I think that the dollar they throw at Tippet will be significant, so all the talk of wanting to play under Longmire etc will be evaporated. I personally think that without KT will be no big issue for us, almost a blessing. Happy to be proven otherwise.

            Tippett?

Tippet presence would have helped Reid's development short term, but perhaps his absence will benefit Reid's development in the longer term. By the time he's 24 he will have been dealing with the number one defender and double team for the majority of his playing career. Two sides to every coin.

Mark Allan amazingly agreed with the caller. If that was the scenario then the AFL would be guilty of draft tampering. Can hardly see it happening. Will be fascinating how it works out.
The caller has been watching too many X Files.

I cannot see GWS making a play for Tippet unless they can talk him round to wanting to go there.

Otherwise, a big risk that costs big dollars.

It would be sad if Tippett joined GWS and got a knock on the head in Round 1.

How about Tippett goes to GWS, then at the end of 2013, we throw the money we had aside for Tippett plus the salary of a presumably retiring Jude Bolton at Buddy.

Really not sure what's going to happen at this point in time. Just too many variables to consider.

One interesting twist is that both Adelaide and Melbourne could be losing draft picks. And if they force Jack Viney back into the draft as well as Tippett, then our 1st round pick will be effectively 4 places higher than it is now, that is assuming Tippett gets drafted in the first round of the ND. It then becomes highly probable that a high quality forward, such as Shaw, Jaksch or Membrey will be available at our pick. Maybe that would be the better solution long term for us.

And if by some chance Tippett is still available at our 1st pick, then we can probably assume that no one is prepared to take him for whatever reason and we could pick him up with pick 67. Although Brisbane would still be an outside chance even if they passed on him with their pick 8, as they may not think he is worth that, but do have the pick right after our 1st pick and could take him there. Probably a salary cap question for them.

I cannot remember a year when there were so many important things waiting to be settled at this time of year.

Kinda over it all now to be honest, deal hasn't been done yet so I doubt it will happen. Hardly an expert but lol

He's gone to GWS. Although their should be outrage if the AFL lets GWS pay the moneybtheybwere paying Folau outside the daft to secure him.

I hope he nominates for the national draft. I think we would happily give our first round pick. Gets it resolved quicker

Can you stipulate your wage in the ND?

Rumour has it that Tippetts punishment from the AFL will be that he has to be drafted by GWS. And the AFL are whinging about him "tampering with the draft".

As I said earlier; if that was the case Tippett's lawyers would be all over it. The AFL must let the market do the talking and they know it. Any pressure on the player as punishment is draft tampering and restraint of trade big time.
