You're right Alison, my apology....and I'll also bow to Emma Q's knowledge. It would appear its the PSD for Tippet.
Some of you may not like it however I love the Swan's stance on the Tippet matter. Andrew Ireland has been asked for a comment a few times and he has stated that the Swans will stick to their word with Tippet. They still want him and wont reneg on anything that has already been agreed verbally. The club is keeping close to him and has/will give emotional support leading up/during the investigation. The contract offered is probably over the odds but thats what people said about Brisbane signing Lynch on a 10 year contract and the Swans signing Lockett. All were big outlays at the time but then considered bargains after their careers. Thats the job of football depts and the good ones get most of their deals/selections right. I'm not questioning the Swan's football dept in that capacity.

I still sense that GWS are going cold on Tippet as they dont want a player who doesnt want to be there, particularly given their young and impressionable list. I've got no doubt that GWS have offered the same contract terms as the Swans (and most likely more $) but it would appear that Tippet has dug his heels in. If it was pure $ greed it's a no brainer that Tippet would go to GWS but the decision is not just based on $. The Swans currently are the 'employer of choice' in the AFL due to their reputation of building/harvesting culture, individual development and team success. .......and we have surf beaches within minutes of the SCG to compliment Tippet's preferred lifestyle. Any surf beaches near Breakfast Point?

Once he's gone through the AFL hearings, probable de registration, probable court proceedings and the media circus that will go with it all i'd reckon he'd probably prefer to go surfing for 6 mths than start playing footy with a new club.
And I hear there are 3 new charges laid today.

Benny you might like to explain why you think otherwise?

Why doesn't it state this in the AFL rules?

So if Tippett chooses not to register for any draft, and doesn't sign the Adelaide contract, how and when does he come off their list?

Related stories are saying that Adelaide will be forced to delist another player because of this situation. This is very odd. A player on a contract can be delisted, but an uncontracted player who has rejected a new contract cannot be delisted. Is there something illogical about this? What am I missing here?
The AFL has blocked the AFC from de-listing him until the findings + penalties are handed down. Normally if a player rejects the clubs offer & no trade is done he would be de-listed & if not a FA would go into either draft.

Or, of course, he might want to fly to mars. Or, an even crazier thought, he might want to do what he has stated all along, play footy for his nominated club.

It was a silly, unsubstantiated, comment based on no knowledge or fact. Don't make it worse by arguing the point.

I gave you an opportunity to explain why you thought he would be a good thing. Its very easy to shoot down other posters without offering anything of substance to support your position or in your case lack of position. Its really just a mild form of trolling. How about you contribute something constructive to the debate for a change.

You have me the opportunity? Thanks I'm honoured. Maybe you should give Tippett the opportunity to speak for himself rather than make stuff up. I simply asked you to back up the made up rubbish. That is not trolling I'm afraid.

Caroline Wilson seems pretty certain that Tippett is coming to the Swans, and she seems to have been in front of this story for some time. So I think we might as well start getting used to the idea that he is going to playing for us next year. I have had my reservations about the amount of money involved, but will hold judgment until we actually know the exact amount involved. I'm warming to the idea.

KT a dickhead? To the contrary, pretty smart! I think of AFL as a sport first and a business second - na?ve, but that?s what it is for me. That KT as a 22 y.o. footballer, in no way a proven star, should demand $800,000 (and I don?t think that included the extra $200,000) to stay at Adelaide doesn?t sit well with me. It must take a bit of ?front? to be the highest paid player at a club at 22,23,24 and not be the best or even near the best.

You could say that Adelaide should have let him go - and yes, they were out of their minds not to do so. Has Chris Judd won Carlton a premiership yet? And Tom Scully didn?t get to set Melbourne on fire after all the things they went through to get him!

It could also be that Kurt has indeed been a pawn, with his Big Daddy calling all the shots. I know there is the opinion that he has every right to go for what he can get, but in the big picture of life that attitude doesn?t impress me too much even if you do think of sport as a business. There are always other values to consider.

It KT gets to the Swans I will respect the judgment of those who have chased after him in order to improve our forward line, he certainly should be an asset there, but I am sure we do quite well without him too. It will be very ironic if he ends up at GWS.

Well, it now appears Tippett's just a pie eater.

This thread is mostly opinions - as fans that's our right, and most of it has been interesting reading.... Happily carry on as I would think most of us are enjoying hearing what everyone else thinks on the matter.

I heard an interesting opinion on the radio a bit earlier about the Roosters signing Sonny Bill Williams. A fellow Roosters fan said that as long as the players are happy with the team signing SBW, he'd be happy too. For me, that's probably a good approach with KT - if we still want him, and we get him, I'll make the assumption that the players are ok with this and I'll be happy too.
