If this happens, and no reason to say it shouldn't as Emma appears to have been spot on in her reporting to date, then he should really be at the peak of condition come September.
Tippett!!

So would we have to pay him for the half year he isn't playing as punishment because he got greedy?
As an aside, twitter is strangely quiet.
Oh and I would like to sit Stuey M and Adam down alone with KT. I'd pay to be a fly on the wall.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Imagine getting a ready made forward, fit as a fiddle for the second half of the season!!Comment

But we will avoid triggering the extension - remember this:
It has been revealed that Sydney's pitch to Tippett included payments of $700,000 for next year and $900,000 for 2014, before improving to $975,000 for seasons 2015 and 2016. The two-year extension would be triggered, worth just under $2 million, if the former Adelaide full-forward played 20 games in each of the first four seasons.

Last time we tried to solve a weekness up forward by recuiting a 2 metre giant from another club, is didn't quite work out as expected. Jason Ball played in our '05 flag, but he didn't solve our forward line woes. I just hope DirtyKurt stands up big time given the enormous amount of money the Swans are paying him, and the enormous amount of time RWOers have invested discussing him.Comment

Its almost 10.30am, two hours after the afl gettogether started. Very quiet isn't it.
As for Jason Ball.
1) The rucking got the ball to Nic Davis, and we got into the Grand Final.
2) He has never left the club, he has been serving on the board for years.
= bloody good investment if y ou ask me.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

The longer this goes the less I want Tippett. Huge $, concussion history and the fact he isn't Tony Lockett has me worried that this may be a trade that finally destroys our brillant recruiting record.
If he does get half a season suspension, we cetainly shouldn't be paying him and that would then equate to a $350,000 fine which seems massively excessive for an individual. If we do pay him then Tippett doesn't really get much of a hit from the AFL but we do by him not being available.
Don't have a good feeling about this.Comment

Why is everybody so worried about the money aspect? Nobody really knows what anybody is getting paod and if u put any faith in what the papers trot out as gospel re player payments then I have an Opera Hiuse to sell u.
I'm just interested what he brings to the field, same as every player on the list. I don't give a rats arse what they are getting paid and as supporters, I don't get why anybody is worried about it.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

Yep, so long as we don't do anything underhanded and the players are all happy, I don't care what he is being paid. The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

As long as our players don't have an issue with it, and we still perform on the field, his pay cheque is irrelevant to me. I can't remember this club having any issues with contracts or losing players because they're not getting paid enough, so there's no reason to believe it'll start being a problem now.
I trust they know what they're doing and I for one really hope we land Tippett.Comment

As an aside, if agreeing to be traded for a second round draft pick is prejudicial to the draft, what does that mean for the trade period? The whole premise of the trade period is just that, swapping players for draft picks or other players.Does God believe in Atheists?Comment

Tippett?
It is not unreasonable to be concerned that with Tippett taking up as much cap room as he allegedly will, that this will make it difficult to hang on to all our young up and coming players in the future, both the premiership players and the ones on the fringe. It is a legitimate concern IMO. We love our players, we don't want to lose them or not be able to pay them a wage that is fair in terms of market value. We don't know what Tippett will be getting paid, true, but I do know theres a lot of swans players in line for significant contract upgrades in the next few years, based on this years performances and the expected development left in these guys.Comment
