If we can get his body right so that he plays a full season, it seems like Tippett could be a Coleman medal winning forward. Doesn't have to dominate a game. He makes a contest for the most part and holding 4-5 marks again & converting would seem to put him right up there. I think he was the leading goal kicker for the second
half of last year. Hopefully his output picks up with confidence & game time & having Buddy, Sammy & Goodsey to distract the defenders might help Tipsy get more opportunities.

He was so good last night - nearly lost in all the Buddy hoo-ha. Keeping him on the park could well be the biggest thing for us for the rest of this season....

Is the option activated by the Club or Tippett?

One would think the Swans hold the option rights. Hard to imagine that a club would want to be held to the demands of a player exercising the right to a contract extension ... although as a player it wouldn't be much fun being told by a club that you must play on, if you didn't want to.

Can someone please remind me what Tippett's contract is thought to look like?

I believe he earnt the contract extension if he either played >than a set number of games per season, or if he averaged >a set number of games per season across the length of his contract. I believe he's actually shot of it at the moment (I think it might have been around 20, but can't remember right now due to consumption of alcohol). The contract was 4 years + 2 with an extension I believe.

I believe the logic is that it's offered by the club to Tippett if he meets the criteria, in theory he could turn it down but as it's effectively an incentive clause you'd assume he requested it and wouldn't (It's rumoured to be 2 years/$2 million). It's very much something included by the club for Kurt's benefit, not the other way around.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I have a conspiracy theory that the 2 year option is for significantly less $ than his first 2 years. He was to be paid over what he was worth for the first 2 years (particularly in light of him missing 1/4 of his contract even if he played every game ... but being paid over would 1) price him out of range of other suitors 2) mean that if averaged out with a relatively under paid 2 year option he would overall get what he's worth. This would open the door for another marquee player in the last 2 years of his contract (eg Buddy) as Tippett's relative salary in those final 2 years would be less than he's worth. It's better for Tippett too to front end his contract as earning compound interest, it's better to have a larger proportion paid at the start than the end. Also it seems ludicrous to pay someone a massive amount for only 2 years when you know he's automatically missing at least a quarter of it.
                      Just a theory

Well if that is fact, then my theory belongs with the Lone Gunmen

Just out of interest, how come there is a one post difference between the mobile RWO site & the full site? The 4000th post on the mobile site is the 4001st post on the full site

You'd hope it works out better for him than the clause he requested at his previous club...
