For other people on this forum, I hope a pick two trade is not completed with Melbourne, but I was investigating different options if the recruiting staff wanted to get pick 2.

Free agency will throw up more trades in the future as clubs will look to move on players who are nearing free agency, and all clubs will be looking at salary cap room to have a crack at free agency targets!
Matt you are making the mistake of the grass is always greener. Have you personal knowledge that the pick 2 will be better than rohan ? If you can can you also tell me next week's lotto numbers because I would definitely go 50:50 with you on the investment.

It is a turkey shoot. Scully was a unanimous first pick - would you wish we had traded mcveigh for him those years ago ? If the answer is no then don't make suggestions which value the bird in the hand so lightly.

The endless what would we trade for a high pick mentality is a fallacy. I for one am ever so glad that we did not trade rohan and jetta for martin - martin is a very good player but I'd prefer two players for one uncertain one every single time (and strangely that even includes franklin although I am genuinely looking forward to seeing him in red and white next season)

Rohan's injury was more an assassination attempt. So in reflection, game time was technically "injury" but not like the games missed by either Reid or Mitchell.

ps my views on this have been completely influenced by Liz on these matters. I value her assessment on football matters very highly (even if I think she makes the occasional error).

I'm looking at this and thinking "did I really say that"?

Are you ghostwriting for me, Billy? If you are, it better be your best stuff.

I've got no idea if pick 2 will be better or worse than Rohan! I think Rohan is a good guy and has the potential to be as good as Patrick Dangerfield.

We have to be aware though that Chris Judd was pick 3 and after his 4th season was a Browlow medalist and a Norm Smith medalist. Rohan has still to hit this level! Nic Nat was a pick 2 a year before Rohan's draft and has achieved massive highs in the game!

A pick 2 may become as good as those guys! Rohan may be as good as Dangerfield in time! We don't know. I don't think Paul Roos would now trade for Rohan at pick 2!

Rohan has genuine star quality. I'll always remember that goal against Geelong where he left an explosive runner like Chapman floundering in his wake and kicked truly - which he does more often than not. He is good overhead, utterly fearless and a team-conscious player. I suspect he'll never get a Brownlow as he's a forward rather than a midfielder, although he'd be very good on a wing.
I'll go out on a limb and say he will be a genuinely great player. I wouldn't dream of trading him for anyone.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Horse made it clear during the presser that Reid is going nowhere. He rates him VERY highly.

Andrew Ireland then added, without being asked, that we do not need to move any other players on, once White goes. The rumours are just that and are completely unfounded. He was asked then about Armstrong and Everitt and was non-committal in responding that they are both out of contract so it was up to them. Read into that what you will.

I wouldn't be surprised if Smith gets released from the backline and becomes a defensive run with midfielder. If it isn't working in a game you just pop him back to the backline. I thought Rohan's work in the PF was pretty good. I reckon he might be our star recruit for 2014.

Sorry, I got my quote copy mixed up. Hang on, why take responsibility when I can blame something else-------------> website malfunction.

                      Thanks, Alan

Check on the fox sports website, it was on a continuous loop before, not sure if it still is though.

Thanks, lads. There is 4 minutes of the presser @ Fox Sports but not the whole thing. I guess the AFL will dress it up to present it with a @@@@ load of ads and it will appear when it can have the biggest impact.
