But against most forwards he'd give away a dozen frees a game.
That's true. Watching replays of games from the late 90's and early 2000's shows it was a very different game!

I'd also argue that full forwards are generally much taller these days...especially the younger ones coming through.

What do we think about ex-cat Mitch Brown? Dominated for Sandy at FB and CHB in the VFL this year, just turned 24 and he's 196cm. Would obviously come really cheap...no reason he can't be another Richards/Laidler type.

Edit: He's just turned 25, not 24. Was also a former first round draft pick.

It will happened soon. We get a big name player two years in a row and cop a trading ban. Hawthorn wins three flags in a row and nothing happens to them , just get another young gun to add to their list ? Yep that seems very fair and reasonable!!!!

Big fan. Watched him closely in the VFL after he performed well for Essendon as a topup player during the NAB cup. I can't believe more hasn't been said about him. He looks absolutely ready to go.

It's a shame he can't be picked up as a delisted free-agent anymore, will be really interesting to see where/if he gets picked at in the draft.

Good idea. Good player and has done really well at Sandy.
Michael Hartley is another VFL KPD who would be worth a look too.

I would seriously look at Brown as a late draft pick if we don't recruit either Michael Talia or Schoenmakers. The other one to keep an eye on from the VFL is ex-Collingwood defender Michael Harltey, who is from Penrith. If either one gets through to the rookie draft they would definitely be worth a shot. In any case, we should try to add at least one mature aged KPP for a bit of added depth next year. With the poor depth of the draft this year, either one could go early in the 3rd round.

This article mentions that he's from NSW...does anyone know if he's a Sydney local originally?

What about Lucas Cook? Top ten draft pick for Melbourne four years ago as a forward and has been doing well at Port Melbourne at Full Back. Impeccable character.

He was a Ballarat boy originally wasn't he? I know he was picked in the draft as a key-forward so that works in the mould of our current backline!

Listening to trade radio? He's contracted and we would have to give something up for him he's prob on 400k

Yeh sure am haha, they make a good point about him potentially not being best 22. It's well documented how much better Ryder is as the number 1 ruck and it would also free up some cap space for Dixon.

If he does want out and happened to choose us, we could even try and negotiate for Port to pay x amount of his contract for x years.
