The first rounder for Redden is not the important thing for the Swans, it is the points it carries. We need to maximise the number of points we get from the Jetta deal. May get the Eagles second rounder plus the Selwood compensation or a player.

He had a good stint at GWS before Mumford arrived.
Essendon don't appear to rate him.
A late pick and average salary would get the deal done.
This would allow a little more time for Naismith to come along and would allow Mike Pyke to take up his investment banking opportunity.Comment

I can't see how we would consider a straight swap of Sinclair for Jetts. Jetts has a strong record of performance and has played well in finals for us, Sinclair has had a good half season, they would surely need to do better than that. I would prefer Lycett as I have seen him play a number of strong games, Sinclair appears to be a player that is in between, not good enough to be a first ruck but also not good enough to be a key forward. Our priority should be for a proper quality tap ruckman as we have plenty of tall timber in our fwd line. I must admit, my wish was to trade Jetts for WC first round pick, use this to trade Yarran in from Carlton, sign leuenberger as a free agent and trade our 3rd rounder for WB Talia. This would see all our problem areas serviced and hopefully leave enough points for Mills with our 1st and 2nd rounders and see what happens with young Dunks? None of those blokes would be on massive coin I wouldn't have thought??Comment

Agree, I think Mills will attract a big bid number, and we won't have the number to match it.
Basically the Eagles will gives us either the third round or compo pick.
Jetta has pack his bags, and as I have said before, the Eagles have the whip hand but they don't need to trade with us.
Brisbane got their first round pick, and why would they give up one of their emerging stars just to make us happy?
Jetta is going to go cheap, but hopefully he will play has badly for them as his last couple of games and that will even the score.doof-doofComment

We can also refuse to accept a dud deal, like we did for ROK, and see how that plays out.
The Swans will try to look after Jetta, like we generally do with our trading players.
But at the end of the day, if WC want Jetta, they have to be reasonable or they won't get him.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Mills was still mentioned but Kennedy from GWS was one blokes player of the combine.
Rioli seems like a bolter and Weitering seems like a beast with a 3.27 Metre vertical leap.
Most disturbing was talk by Ablett on that show (a non famous one) that the Hawks could offer up for Dunks as their first rounder, let them take him I say....
I'm not convinced a Melbourne, Carlton or St Kilda would be prepared to let a Lewis Jetta go past them in the PSD so I say let's play hardball. Send him to the PSD and all the uncertainty that presents if the Eagles don't offer a Sinclair or at adequate currency - their picks 35 and 37 offer the bare minimum points wise of what we should accept (1,005). We could then trade our first rounder for a Lobbe and pay for Mills with our picks 32,35 and 37.
What it means then is that effectively we'll have about 300 points in the bank to which we need to add any player sales proceeds. Bird and Robbo are the only ones I can see being offered up and I reckon a mid third rounder at best will our return there.
So, to me either get a Talia-like player or we draft Dunks but not both unless we want to trade away our picks for next year. I'd be tempted to go for quality rather than quality and just take Dunks and give our reserve grade defender like X and AA a decent crack next year.Comment

Interesting Kinnear Beatson saying he didn't think it would be a good look for a club to to use an early pick on a player knowing they would be subsequently claimed by the academy club, then having to pick again signally that their resulting selection would be seen as second best. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

Interesting West Coast coming out and slamming the AFL for the weak pick they were given for Selwood and the unfairness of the system given they had acted with the players best interests.
Wonder if they will stand behind these comments if offering a draft selection for Jetta? The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

I'd be very very angry if Brisbane or Gold Coast put in a bid for Mills bit about #4 seems quite fair, I doubt it will happen but if he could slip to 6 it would be a huge win for us

If the Eagles gave us their second round pick (36) and the compo pick for Selwood (37) then the combined points of 985 is the equivalent to offering us pick 18.Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment
