I have a feeling that we'll keep on of Mitchell and McGlynn and that Mitchell is as good as gone so for 2017 we should be OK for small forwards. It's where Heeney is so great, he is cat like at ground level but he is also incredibly strong overhead. So we have him as a back up in the forward line even though I reckon they are chomping at the bit to throw him in the guts and start throwing his weight around because he loves the physical stuff does young Isaac.

Any way you look at our list it is in good shape

If Mitchell goes to the Hawks, we get say two player, Breust and Burton, and send our first round to Gold Coast.

Gold Coast get two first round picks, we get two players who are first round picks, Hawks get two players, Mitchell and O'Meara

Burton 191cm, 90kgs, plays as a forward, but can move to the midfield if required.
      Gold Coast wants players.

Someone like Tim Mohr from GWS could be alright, if he gets his body right. Wouldn't be on too much coin and able to match it with the big forwards

Does anyone else think it strange that all the media chatter is that Tom Mitchell is signed sealed and delivered to Hawthorn? Do these experts have inside knowledge of the actual contractual dealings? Are they speculating or just willing that it is a fait accompli? Or am I just naive?

I wish people would stop citing Membrey as a mistake. Would have been an absolute list clogger had he stayed!

Mug, what do you reckon about big Nank going back? He's 199cm and 106 kg. 22 years.
His foot skills and ground work have been great.

He's third in line for ruck - easily better than Sinclair. I'm concerned that he will look for opportunities elsewhere.
I've banged on about how we cannot afford to lose him as ruckmen don't develop until they are 25 - at which time Tippet will be 32. Currently Nank is ahead of that curve and ruckmen are hard to find.

He's not that mobile but neither is Reg. But that can be trained into him.

I agree about Reid but IMO he's just too fragile, like his brother.

It will probably be announced either this monday or next monday, depending on results tonight. The reason we havent heard anything from the Swans or Mitchell is because we are still playing.

He's a big bodied defender and cheap, don't see the problem. Bring him out for the Hawkins types

Yeah I see what you mean. I had him down as a medium. Robbo is the same size 185/82 Bruest 184/84, but I was comparing to McGlynn 172/76 and Papley 176/71.
Either way I think a big backman is preferable.

What about offering Daniel Cox from the Recruit a rookie contract and see what he's got? He'd be a handy small forward/mid...

Yer I'd go for that, he certainly looked on the show like he had all the tricks.

I can see the West Coast cheer squad banners now "SWANS HAVE SMALL COX"

He was apparently pretty poor in the VFL this year.
