Olango tested 197.4cm at the combine so he is not 201cm. Didn't stand out at the combine for his leap but he has real potential to be worth one of our 40s picks.

Have you put in a call to Kinnear Beatson yet Ludwig?

Tony looks over 2 metres. The AFL draft website lists him at 201. There was some comment that the height measurements taken at the combine were seriously off. Tony only ranked in the top group for the left foot vertical leap with 91cm, tied with Gallucci, who is the star of the vertical leap. Gallucci was dropped on his head and he bounced up 85 centremetres, which was a new record previously held by Ted Richards.

KB calls me just about every morning these days. He's not that great on time zones. I say: "KB, I know it's 7 AM in Sydney, but it's only 3 in the morning over here." But he know that I'm awake reviewing player videos. Once the draft is over I won't hear from him again until next November.

The biggest problem we have is that Horse wants to take 4 ruckmen in the draft. You know how he says you can never have enough ruckmen. Luckily I found some video of Logue taking a few centre bounces. I'm pushing them to take Toby Pink in the rookie draft, a forward who also plays in the ruck, and redrafting Tom Derickx as a Category W* rookie. So with Logue and Olango, we've got our 4.

Same for Reid and Towers allows Heeney and Hewett to play 50% in the mids

Fresh off the Callum Twomey press, the latest player linked to us at pick 19, CHB Brennan Cox from Woodville-West Torrens

Where does he go? Has caught some interest in the second round, where tall defenders often start to come into consideration. Sydney could also look at him at No.19 if things fall a certain way earlier.

Yes Logue's name seeming to be coming up a lot in relation to the Swans. I like Berry too from what I've read about him.

I think we get a guy that can play straight away, this is the day an age where you have to play kids as an interstate club otherwise they want home
Even guys that tried to get into the system for 3 yrs are having a home bound sook after a year, look at Marcus Adams.

Just grab a local who can develop or a Interstater who can play straight away.
With all the GWS/GC/Bris Academy kids, that is where I would be looking with our later picks, not as much a pull to go home from QLD and if GWS have kids in our backyard, grab them, they cant get them all.

I also think out Key Position Stocks deficiencies are overstated.
Buddy/Tippo/Reid has our fwd line sorted for the next few years - You can put witches hats around them and its still a top 6
Mids are no issue especially when they can all rotate fwd and back
Defence is strong building around Alir/Rampe, I still think Talia can play a big role and there is optimism around AJ. Grundy still has 2 good yrs
If Talia plays consistently it frees up Rampe, he is a star regardless but heaps more benefit when he is locking down on a tall defender.

I think Key Defence is where we will be heading for Free Agency in a year or 2.
The old way of thinking is that you Draft Mids but you buy Key Position Players

I thought that he was an academy player but found the following article on him: Swans miss out on first shot at top prospect Ben Davis - AFL.com.au. Does anyone know why he didn't nominate for last years draft? It says that he didn't nominate because he was injured but that seems like a cop-out. Has the relationship between the Swans and the Davis' soured in the last year? It seems very strange that he wouldn't nominate (you would assume that he didn't want the Swans to draft him) and that Abe was delisted (which surprised many). The whole situation seems unusual.

Who knows. I can only relate what I saw of him during swans academy training drills. As an over ager (19) I saw him constantly targeting 16 year olds in competitive drills. Things like cheap high hits, trying to sling tackle, the odd elbow. I didn't get what he was trying to prove. I grew up playing footy in Adelaide against sides like Gaza etc and anyone who behaved liked that would get sorted by the team members. Like I say, I didn't get it.

I keep hoping for GWS to get pinged draft picks for the Whitfield affair thereby helping our draft position but the AFL looks to be squibbing it. How about the GWS response "our two officials acted outside of club rules so we shouldn't be pinged". Well the Crows could have mounted that argument about Tippettgate, their two officials acted outside of club rules but they copped a big whack. A club is responsible for the actions of their officials, especially senior officials. A test here for the AFL, if they don't take away draft picks from GWS then they are showing favouritism to their lovechild.

Well our response that "the AFL found our officials acted within the rules" didn't help us any - we still got smashed in the draft - so presumably this won't help GWS and they will also be seriously smashed in the draft...... unless of course the AFL is a corrupt, biased organisation that wants to see its deformed, unwanted lovechild succeed irrespective of the cost. Gosh, I wonder which way it will go ......

That's because they used the same apparatus used to measure LRT. He varied between 191 and 198 cm .... often within the same game.

Logue and SPP appear to be two players that will most likely be available for our first two picks.........they appear to be hard at it players that fit the Swans type of game plan

In Snrs both of these guys could play in 2017 which is compelling but more importantly they appear 10 year type players in a Swans style of footy

When I look at our reserves team we don't have much in the way of High half forwards or CHF/FF being nurtured for Snrs ??

Given that the likes of Heeney and Hewett will continue to get more and more game time in the middle you would then think another Midfield/HFF style player like Cedric Cox or will hayward might be in the mix in our top two picks or a Josh Battle genuine forward

I can't find anything on the TV broadcast guide whether the draft will be televised (Foxtel of free to air). Anyone know? I assume it will be.

According to AFL.com.au it is to be on Fox Footy Friday at 6.30pm.
