63-95 tackles can be addressed but GWS is a very very good team

Well , I thought we would win if our defence held up - and despite the score , I don't have too many complaints about the back six.Injuries didn't help , but that's not the real issue , especially as a groggy Kennedy was magnificent. What struck me above all else , was that we could not match them for leg speed or speed of ball movement.

On reflection we probably needed to convert some of those really early chances to put pressure on them.

But still may not have been enough.

It felt like a Giants home game to me from the moment I walked into the precinct. Their club song was the only thing I heard blasting over the speakers OUTSIDE the arena over and over. Not much Swans' 'stuff' going on that I could see.

Exactly. Which is why towers and Cunningham should be automatic selections against them. At least they would chase and add pressure and increase out tackle count.

Was a collection of little things. When they scored their first goal there was stadium audio and the screen lit up differently. It didn't do that for our first two goals.

Wouldn't call it a home ground advantage

I was actually suprised it was so swans focused. I thought finals were neutral. I guess i haven't actually been to a neutral final for many years. Sweet caroline, up there for sydney. Citibank cash thing, dance for cygy, ...

Well I think we can beat GWS but that the coaching against them lets us down every time.

My feeling is that we have to slow them down, because the Swans can't match their speed. So if we can't tackle them, we need to throw in a few professional free kicks from time to time to ensure that we have time to get into position. Flooding the forward line to crowd them, forcing the ball out of play, that sort of thing, anything to slow their run. If we can do that, we can beat them, because skill and talent wise we can match them.

Anyway, that's just my opinion. I think the coaching was bad yesterday.

I haven't read the rest of the thread but the big problem I noticed was that we always seemed to be out numbered at the contest. It looked as though we would either get the ball out ourselves or stop them but all of a sudden there was another Giant ready to receive that last handball/make a tackle just as we were about to win the contest. It is hard to tell one the tv if this was the case and we had an extra number elsewhere?
Also AA is making me think Ted who? Which is sad and wonderful.

The Giants are too fast. On big grounds they will be nigh impossible to beat when playing their best footy. They always seem to rise to the occasion against the Swans too, so much so that I half expect them to cave against the Hawks (their most likely opponent) in the prelim. If by chance they do get through, and so do Sydney, playing them on the MCG is a worry.

Fingers crossed the Swans can turn things around against Adelaide, because a straight sets finals exit after finishing on top of the ladder is embarrassing and a disservice to the year they've had.

The ABC24's Offsiders is running a repeat of this morning's edition at 3.30 this afternoon. I'm told it's really worth watching, goes into details like possible suspensions, and much else.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

                              - I thought Hannebery kept trying and performed at standard.
                              - Jones coming back will be really helpful, we could have used his power running from the back today.

It was interesting that Aliir played forward towards the end of the game (less effectively).
Not to mention his mongrel. If he plays a half way decent game today, I suspect he'll get called back.

Thanks for the service McGylnn, but you're a list clogger now. Time to hang up the boots and move on.
Of course the club should come before sentiment, and does - ROK and Richards being recent examples. I also agree that he had a poor game yesterday. My objection was to your childish comment on him crying for missing a GF. That was unnecessary and disrespectful.
