And Clarkson showed that you can successfully move around the magnets and put together a winning formula with most of your players seemingly playing out of the position they played when they were drafted.

We may finish too high (hopefully) to be in the mix for Brander and Fogarty, but Noah Balta and Oscar Allen could well be available at our pick. I don't know if they will impress our recruiters enough to be taken if available.

We also have the option of using Aliir as a forward or ruckman. Darcy Cameron can also play as a legitimate forward. He's like Sinclair, but can mark the ball and kick a goal, which is a big advantage if you want to play as a KPF.
Missed Reid's contested marking last night, both up forward and when he drops back. Good call on Cameron, Ludwig, forgot about him. I think we extended his contract before he did his shoulder?

We need to get in a couple of potentially good, physically tough mid-sized players too. Foote and Kizza are physically tough but they are so small. Papley is great, he too is small but he is able to maximise his strengths and mix it with the big boys. Look at Hayward and Florent, also Rose, they may be potentially good or great players but they are at such a disadvantage in the physical stuff. Even Mills, along with Towers and Lloyd have their work cut out holding tackles on or getting through tackles from bigger sized opponents. Sure we need our fleet outside players but I am noticing that clubs like Essendon and others are stocking their teams with JPK lookalikes and not only just as inside mids. Even Macca and Heeney struggle against the bigger bodied players, as does Hanners. Jones is aggressive but he is also in the small brigade. Of course we already have Rohan to fill the bill, maybe Dawson (?) but it would be useful to have a couple more speedy, physically tough players with good marking and disposal skills around the 186cm-190cm. Not asking for much!

As Clarkson says, he is building a team to win a premiership and he is quite happy, as Melbourne and GWS seem to be, to encourage his players to play 'on the edge' ie to intimidate. I don't like his approach at all but we have to play against these teams. I don't think you can teach a player to be aggressive in the game, I may be wrong, in that you don't have to teach Paps, Jones or Heeney to be aggressive, its part of who they are. Likewise you are never going to teach Sam Reid to flatten packs or Jets to wrestle someone to the ground or snatch the ball out of their hands.

Despite his strength and toughness Buddy was well held on Friday night but it took a full back-line press to do it! We just couldn't capitalise except for - Papley. Hewett is showing signs that he can cope with physical pressure, I think, and maybe Newman - not sure about Melican. Mills has an aggressive mindset but not the physical body to impose himself yet, that is without getting himself half killed. He certainly lives dangerously.

If he signs. You have seen him sign this four year deal then? Richmond short forward line will never take them to a premiership imo it's why they went after Schache n after failing I have no doubt they will go after Reid. lWithout Riewoldt that forward line is rudder less. When up n running Hawthorn had several tall forwards. They are out of the eight so I wouldn't be using them as an example. Forgarty has slipped a bit. Some have him missing top ten. Very very poor championship. I watched Cameron live several times n would not be relying on him as your 2nd forward. Allen will only make it as a key forward if he grows several cms. Just to short ATM for your legit key forward.

I was thinking that we should turn Marsh back into a midfielder. He's a good size and could make a good tagging mid. O'Riordan will be a good player. Besides being skillful, he's also a good sized player and doesn't back down. Fisher and Ronke are a bit smaller, but seem tough as well. Rose is tough as well, but needs to fix other problems, like being more consistent, especially with his defensive play.

Mmmm, big bodied mid/fwd? Maybe give Dawson a go, he might just have made a difference last night once our forward structure got thrown into disarray with Naismith & Sinclair getting injured. Well at least he couldn't have been any less effective than a couple I can think of!

Does anyone know what is Robbo's contract situation? He seems to have been around forever but has only just turned 23, and has only played 16 games
(4 in 2015, incl 2 as a sub, 7 in 2016, and 5 so far this year). As he is a Sydney local, I keep hoping he will have a breakout game
and get 30 touches and four goals, but that seems a bit distant at the moment as he is only averaging about 12 possessions a game this year.
The coaching staff must see something in him. I see a guy who is just slightly off the pace, but also doesn't mess up much either. Maybe that is
the definition of the depth player.

Contracted till end of '18. He's good depth sitting on the edge of best 22 who could play a role going forward. Injuries over the last 2 years have slowed his development. IMO he's definitely worth persisting with.

This one comes from afl.com.au reporter

                    @Nick_Bowen

Swans will re-sign both Sam Reid and Zak Jones to long-term deals, possibly 4 years each. Have thwarted significant interest in Victoria

If true I'm pretty happy with not just the re-signing but the the four years. Gives us atleast a key forward to support Franklin like I've spoken about a few times on here.

Michael Warner on OTC just said both will be on 4 year deals. Appears the news is out there.
