Taking Menzel is essentially a Rohan/Menzel swap. And I dont think we get a lot out of that. Ronke and Papley pushed Rohan out of the side. They will do the same to Menzel.

Ronke & Papley will be in the midfield rotation a fair bit for their pace and evasiveness leaving space for Menzel to be slotting them from everywhere

Based on who Papley struggled to run out that GWS game I would have him nowhere near the midfield.

They should all have a big preseason, but even if Papley's was merely solid he's still in the best 22 as a very good crumber. I just hope he puts more time into accuracy.

I take your point about not wanting to push any of our young talent out of the side, but Menzel is a step up from Rohan. More goals per game, possessions per game, marks per game (including contested marks and marks inside 50) and higher disposal efficiency. Rohan has more tackles per game but I think on the whole an improvement.

I wonder with the failure to land Vandenberg / Langdon whether we’ll run with more than 38 for one year only and take a punt on a couple of DFA, as much to lift our age/experience profile as anything.

That might be the case with Papley but Ronke is essentially a midfielder. I'd expect him to have the tank to play in the midfield.

Yep 1.9 compared to Rohan's 0.9. I'm not sure what salary Rohan was on but Menzel will be at least half that you would think, worth a punt if his body is alright

If we are entering the forward line more like hawthorn style then having a very accurate extra kick at goal will be handy

The key for the forwards is not always tackling

Most important is making sure you move the exit from the opposing team into the higher pressure areas on the field

You would have to truly review menzels defensive efforts by watching games to determine how much he contributed to the forward line defensive pressure

It appears his attack is a massive counter balance
