I wouldn’t read too much into the Sydney uni statement. The players joining Sydney uni is always subject to drafting. I think stewart might be going to Aspley.

I have heard players like Jaegar O' and others saying things like he would have a better chance of getting on the field with the Dawks medical team.

Might have also heard/read the same being said by journo's, (not a great source I agree, but heard more than a couple of times.

Even though the Swans have omitted to make any comment on their own website re Fox, it's pretty clear from his season review video that he'll be on the list next season. Blakey's comments about what he achieved in 2018 and what could he could provide in 2019 are more enthusiastic than Fox's own comments.

Menzel pick-up does seem like a no-brainer to me if the terms are right.

I like Papley and Ronke as small forward options but to be honest, Papley's 2018 was well down on 2016-17, and Ronke had one freak game. I hope they can get to the next level next season.

I'm sure I read a Swans article saying Fox has been/will be promoted to the senior list, I'll see if I can locate it.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Liz, I feel Fox is a squad member who can fill a spot / role if injuries to top 22. Not in 22 for me, not a list clogger

I dont see what others see in Fox. He's taken 1-2 spectacular marks at senior level but thats it. Seems like a poor mans Rohan, rarely gets the ball and doesnt do much with it. I would have rather kept Towers (a better like for like player who could pinch hit in the ruck) or Robinson (a servicable midfielder) as depth. It's not like he's a young upcoming player, he's 24, the same age as Robinson. He may be worth persisting with as a rookie but if we're tight for senior spots he hasn't showed enough to me to think that he earns it.

As per the article Magic Merkin has provided a link to, it's been reported on the AFL site. I just don't think I've seen any comments on the Swans' own site, despite them announcing that Maibaum and Rose had each signed for another year. Pink and Bell are others whose fate we've had to rely on other news sources to learn about. I have little doubt these sources are factual and accurate. I just find it weird that the Swans themselves rarely seem to acknowledge that rookie listed players even exist.

Apparently the Herald Sun has said Menzel flying back from LA, doing another medical WITH US, then flying back to the US to finish his holiday.

Could all be hearsay and rumour but I'm feeling good about this, I think this is a great pick up, we need more attack and accurate kickers with a footy brain.

He isn't perfect, but at 190cm, he is a good foil for BF.

I can't remember the Swans not reporting on a rookie elevation before. It's a bit remiss of them to let the Fox elevation go without acknowledgement, but it would be just one of many media departments deficiencies.

A lot of Swans players, especially the younger ones, faded as the season wore on. Fox was a disappointment in how he finished the year. Often inexperienced players will play to avoid mistakes, not having the confidence to take the game on. Fox has a good level of both skill and athleticism, as well as the versatility to play several roles. He's going to be 26 in April, so it will be a big year for him.

Papley had a down year, but nothing to get too concerned about. Ronke had such a good start to the year, he set a pretty high standard for himself, but had a typical young player fade-out; he has a lot to build on and I would expect him to push on to higher level next season. Florent had a similar fade-out the last couple of months of the season.

Being dependent on such a young squad makes it hard to gauge how things will go next year. But you can always be hopeful that the kids will all improve, lifting the team as a whole.

Ling, Stoddart, McCartin, Amartey and Blakey: 5 kids with potentially big futures. A lot of the Swans' fortunes may well depend on how these kids develop.

Allegedly if he passes that he will be signed up straight away. That is according to Ricky Nixon though , but it would seem an epic waste of everyone’s time and resources to fly him across the world for a medical if they weren’t 100% sure that they wanted him.

Don't they have doctors in LA?
