Any thoughts on Goddard? I've always been a big fan- I get he's old, but I tend to agree that based on this year he looks like he has another season in him.

No idea what the contract price would be and if we'd have the room.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

      Hi Stella!!!
No. We have too many old men as it is (and I'm not throwing Joey onto that pile either).
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I would have thought there is a role for him at some clubs but not at the Swans. Who's spot in the team would he challenge for? And would he provide leadership/experience that we don't already have. It would make far more sense for McVeigh and/or Grundy to be given another year (assuming there is still any question about whether they will).

No way, he is/was toxic at Essendon. Is also a receiver who doesn't want to win the hardball anymore.

Not for me especially as we have the option to keep McVeigh.

Definitely a no to Goddard. He turns the ball over too much...we already have enough players that do that! Plus he is only good playing loose.

But were they really being nice? How was the trip home in the car with the kids all hyped up on too much sugar?

When we played the Saints this year he took several marks on the lead and looked ok so maybe he might be worth the risk if the rules change to suit.
The health issues he has would make it a risky recruit. In a perfect world and everyone is fit Sam Reid would be well ahead of him.
I actually think Tom is way ahead of him......

Dale then made that infamous post match comment knowing of many AFL players who are taking illicit drugs, for which he got heavily sconed from many quarters only to be proven right a decade later.
Yeah, there has been a few there since. I can remember an Ess/WC final. We played the Saints in one. Buddy won the Hawks an Elimination Final there against the Crows as well.

I agree . Toms first season reminds of Sam Reid’s first season , except tom has played way more games. Those sticky hands , he’s gonna be a gun for us ( hopefully the body holds up better than Sams has )

Ahhh yes of course that famous post siren goal a young Buddy kicked from about 50m out on the boundary against the Crows to win final. Thanks Plugger46.

Suggestions at the Hun that Rhyce Shaw is about to leave to join North Melbourne. I really really hope not. It would be a tragedy if he left!

Not for me, but he was on my flight to Sydney the morning after the Bombers played the Swans....

Surely not, must be giving him big $ from their much vaunted War Chest!

Being a paywall article, don't know if it states whether the position NM is offering is a promotion to the current role Rhyce has at the Swans. If it isn't, I assume the Swans can refuse to clear Rhyce if he is already contracted for next year as they did with Dew when Roos attempted to get him to Melb in same senior assistant role.

I also wonder Rhyce's close relationship with AJ will have on his decision, assuming AJ & club decide to give his career another go?

Here’s some of the Hun article:

                                Category: | Herald Sun

SYDNEY assistant coach Rhyce Shaw will join North Melbourne at the end of the season.

The Herald Sun can reveal the highly-rated mentor and brains behind Sydney’s well-drilled and meticulous backline has agreed on the move to Arden Street.

Shaw will be tasked with tightening up the Roos’ backline, which, at times this season, was far too easily scored against...

Shaw will replace existing backline coach Josh Drummond, who is set to move to the Gold Coast for family reasons.
