Giving up pick 13 to blues
We got picks 26,28 from Carlton
    Pick 40 from Adelaide
    Official

    26,28,33,38,40,67

Possibly picks 50 from cats for Rohan

Hannes not sure but 2nd round next year plus probably a player ?

Guessing pick 40 might have needed to secure r.clarke ?

Now that is a strong tilt to a trade strategy rather then draft strategy ie with that bunch of picks plus a great protection of Blakey in draft

So far excellent trade execution and a full deck of cards open for visibility to trade

      Total Points IN = 1835
      OUT = 1212

Seems a good trade for us
Agreed, the inclusion of pick 40 changes it completely imo. So far so good.

Yep, went from about a 200 point improvement to a 623 point improvement. The 623 point improvement is roughly equal to gaining Pick 30 in the draft (Valued at 629)

It has the potential to be one of our best trade periods ever

          We have stacked the deck

We just need to land the players now

We have helped Adelaide and blues
          They have helped us significantly

How can we help freeo and demons?

          Vandenberg to us from demons
          Hogan to freeo
          E.langdon to us from freeo

          What would it take ?

We have so much flexibility now to provide picks for trades

We can outbid pies for T.langdon I suspect and give the pies fair Compo via a pick they would not get via afl

Langdon from the Pies is a gun. Perfect replacement for Smith.

Wasn't aware that we were getting pick 40 as well. That's a good outcome.

Pick 40 for Vandenberg I reckon. I'm of the opinion pick 50 is unders for Rohan and hoping a swap of picks will help sweeten the deal to our advantage (not sure what picks Geelong currently hold).

Normally it is best to judge a trade period at completion as there is a lot of moving parts but this small battle amongst the war is a win for the Swans. Out 1212, In 1835 =

Let me clarify. I could be totally incorrect, but both Hall and Talia "stuffed up" in different ways. Hall's indiscretions were onfield, Talia's were off (cocaine). Any negative incident has the potential to eradicate positive culture if left unchecked. I don't believe they did and the club ultimately showed both players the door. Talia never played firsts again and Hall went to the Dogs. We could give Harley a chance and at the same time, I believe our leadership wouldn't tolerate any nonsense. Just my thoughts.

Or, to put it another way, pick 13 for equivalent of pick 6 (and a bit). It's a cracking trade.

Sad we might earn more in a pick swap (pick 40) than we’ll get for Rohan

I agree that adding pick 40 greatly enhances that trade from our perspective. I was underwhelmed by the idea of giving up a valuable pick for just 200 increase in points. Pick 40 gives us currency to trade for one of our targets (or leaves that pick for use if we need to use one of our two second round picks).

Liz, have they not changed the rules so we cannot simply accumulate a dozen low draft picks for points?

The question of whether the "Swans culture" could sort out Bennell is irrelevant when he can't even get onto the park to play football.

The fact that Peter Bell's first move after taking his new job at Freo is to try and cut ties with Bennell surely indicates how much value they place in his combination of non-playing and off-field indiscretions.
