Didn’t we use the pick to draft Ollie?

Not directly, no. But if you deny the nexus between the trading of Mitchell and the drafting of Florent, I don't see how you have any basis on which to "value" the Mitchell trade.

Anyone who is upset about trading for Daniher should really start getting used to it. He is coming. Not officially yet but prepare yourself. I’m hoping it is for no more than our 2020 1st round + pick 23 this year.

An AFL trade page on social media is reporting that an “ avalanche of sources “ are now saying that the Daniher to Sydney deal is back on . And also , that North are in the box seat to Land Papley on a deal worth , wait for it , 800-900k a season !! This is apparently being reported by Tom Browne of 7News ( both the Daniher and Papley “news” ).

Sorry that’s too much money for Papley , no wonder he wants to leave if that’s the kind of money being offered ! Assuming of course there is a shred of truth to either of these updates .

If Paps comes to the club asking for a trade to North who are apparently prepared to play 800-900k for a player off thr scrap heap hitting his prime with a 4 yr contract
That is this years and next years 1st round pock from North.

They have cornered themselves with nothing else available and picking a long term contracted player

Browne didn't mention Papley "On the Couch".

I wonder whether there was a Freudian ommision in the article about Will Hayward on the website today?

It lists off the exciting young players within the club. Hayward, Florent, Hewett, Mills, Heeney and Blakey get mentioned but not Paps.

I hope this is not an insight into where the club views Papley's likelihood of being with us in the future. Maybe I'm reading too much into it......

That's Morris not Browne. When do we start the "Daniher!" thread?

I wouldn't trust Browne to break an egg. But there does seem to be momentum for it.

This is interesting: AFL Trade Rumours on Twitter: "Joe Daniher is set to ask for a Trade to Sydney. Fox Footy understands Daniher’s primary motivation concerns his disappointment with Essendon’s medical department over several seasons, despite public denials.… https://t.co/dLhvxBFgEj".

Here's Morris with an 'exclusive'. Joe Daniher Sydney, Joe Daniher, AFL Trade Period 2019, AFL Trade Whispers, Lance Franklin, Essendon, Sydney Swans | FOX SPORTS

The inclusion of Franklin's name in the headline is odd - almost like they are trying to make you click on the article to assure yourself the rumoured trade is not a swap of the two!

That’s reassuring! Despite the last few years having a massive war chest to try to entice big (& small names), that basket case of a club couldn’t land a parked 747, let alone a player they actually target.

But I do remember Roos letting Darren Jolly go back with his blessing.

A part of me can’t wait for the GF to be over so we can get into the off-season proper. This must be what being a Carlton supporter is like.
Yes it is really interesting the Victorian coach was happy to let Victorian players go home. He eventually went home himself. They all do the Victorian. Whay do you Thi k a lot of our list come from SA? Nobody wants to go back u less the offer is irrisistable lol. WA players even want out. We generally pick Vic boys who have a preference to ay out of the Vic Goldfish Bowl.

Paps I'm sure we thought would be a long term Swans player but obviously Newman and Co have got in his ear. No wonder we got rid of Newman. He was obviously obstructive.

I'm surprised that people are saying we "won" the Hannebery trade with St Kilda. It's too early for that kind of call in my view. Sure, he had massive injury concerns this year, but he seems to be on the mend and if he can get himself right over the off season he might be as good as ever for them yet. Remember he has at least two or three years in him

I'm realistic about his value - he did tend to butcher the ball - but he was still a very good player, inspirational at his best and very nearly a Norm Smith medalist, and we let him go for not very much.

My disappointment with the Swans list management team is that while our drafting has been ok, we haven't really attracted any really good players via trades since Buddy in 2013. compare that to 2007-9, where we perhaps had a bit of luck, but we got Kennedy, McGlynn, Mumford, Shaw, and Mattner. Not a bad haul.

I still strongly suspect the Bunyip fires early in the year affected Papley. If the dude wants to go back and is going to be paid $800k-$900k to do it, good luck to him. If that is the case we shouldn't stand in his way, but pick 7/8 is the least we should request.
