He's a good coach but maybe just like players the end is coming quickly for him.

This year has been one whinge after another, partly to deflect from the poor performances and the woeful state of their list. They made the cardinal error, over estimated where their list was at and burnt/overpaid picks recruiting players who it now turns out won't be part of their next distant tilt, yay :-)

No one whinges as incessantly as Clarko!

Did he really say that about the grand final?? He must have memory loss and forgotten that the Hawks won their premierships on THEIR home ground against interstate teams that finished higher than them on the ladder.

Like a lot of them in Melbourne, they're an entitled bunch. I couldn't be happier about Hawks demise, just want Fatchin's Pies to go the same way!

What? The normally dignified, balanced and thoughtful Clarko throwing a tanty? Surely you jest.

Has had no trouble picking off players from the northern states. His recruiting strategy has failed yet he won't admit it. Clearly he is struggling with the thought that they might be cellar dwellers for a number of years. Just watch their membershio numbers drop off. The budgies must be getting awfully old by now. How resilient are their so called paid up and passionate supporters?

I want De Kooning from Carlton. He looks awesome.

Not that resilient. Flimsy is the word that comes to mind. Between 2015 & 2019 Hawthorn's average home game attendance dropped
from 38,626 to 31,077. Ours went from 31,521 to 31,070 in the same period. Our fans are way more stoic.

Whether it’s denial or just deflecting responsibility, Clarko is just digging a bigger hole for himself (and Hawthorn) which can only be good for the rest of us.

He has just preferred to let other clubs do the initial drafting (and development) and then use draft picks to trade those players in later, often using the go-home factor and getting those players at a pretty good trade value.

Referencing the northern academies is just hot air, again a deflection mechanism. If each year the NSW and QLD clubs used all their draft picks to take all the talent from those states (which is clearly not what’s happening due to lack of that much talent - but nonetheless that would be the worse-case scenario under Clarkson’s logic), then that would leave the other 14 clubs exclusive access to the whole rest of the country (ie. where 95% of the best players come from).

Down to pick 4 but that was always likely anyway with Hawthorn full on tanking.

Nice win tonight, pick 4 still very handy if we don't have to burn it on a vexatious early Campbell bid, like from sooking whinging Clarko!

If Josh Kennedy wants to play his last year of footy in Melb, back living with family (33yrs of age in 2021).

                      Would you trade him ?

If JPK asked for a trade then yes I would. He deserves that. But I wouldn't want to. He's much more valuable to us mentoring our young bulls than the 4th round pick we'd get for him. With the soft cap cut drastically, senior playing mentors are going to be very important.

If Hawthorn were to do that, it would be more likely that they would bid on Ugle-Hagan if he was still available.

If not, Ugle-Hagan would already be gone and Hawthorn would have pick 4, we would have 5.

Pick 4 = 2034 points and Pick 5 = 1878 points. If Hawthorn were to try that and we matched, pick 5 would become about pick 52, or 250 points. We would lose an early draft pick but be well placed to recruit both players we're after.

Where's this come from? A legend of our club? Do you have inside information. If not, I find this insulting.

Just reading an article on this years AFL draft combine. Really backs up Clarkos point

Of all invitees to test at the combine , QLD and NSW combine for 10 participants.

Victoria has 46, More than half of the total pool.

And all the other clubs can select the 10 kids from the Academies. Other than the northern clubs, has any other club ever selected a kid from one of the northern academies?
