Yes, I must admit that I couldn't be bothered reading his column, to see if he justified his point in any way. While there's some chance that Luke may start to struggle as he ages, there's probably a better chance that he won't. He'll only be 32 at the end of the contract. There's plenty of 32 and older players, still playing high quality football. And Parker has given no indication that he's susceptible to particular injuries, or developing anything chronic. So, there's a reasonable chance that he'll continue having a pretty good run. Also, even if he did have an injury ridden final year, that doesn't guarantee that the contract will be regretted. The club may have already started grooming him for a coaching role by then (after he captained our latest premiership side).Comment

This trashing of AFL journalists is too premature.
We need to get through the trade period to know if they were correct or incorrect.
If we don’t end of signing Dawson, Hewitt and Stephens due to financial constraints, Morris and others will be proved correct.
If we don’t sign Dawson, Hewitt and Stephens then I think each person on here who criticised Tom Morris should apologise.
People on here are going strong on journalistic ethics and competency. They want journalists to be held to account. You in turn should hold yourself to account and apologie to these journalists if they are proved to be correct with their stories on the tightness of salary cap.
I will apologise to the forum if Dawson is signed and questioning of AFL journalistic performance is proved to be correct.Comment

His first half of the year was very good. To the extent that I was surprised that nobody picked him up in the mid-season draft. Hopefully, he's mentally healthy and not showing any early signs of CTE. While I think there's a strong chance, that his multiple concussions have already significantly increased his of developing CTE later in life, it's probably up to him, if he wants to expose himself to further risk. If there are signs that it already might be a problem, then the club would probably be wary.Comment

Cal Twomey has just included Alleer in his AFL draft team. The article on the AFL site, shows him getting plenty of air, attempting to take a mark over a Sturt opponent. Possibly a SANFL mark of the year contender, but I've no way of knowing if he successfully completed it or not?Comment

Love the Swans but look at life through the fairness lense. Sometimes opinions on here towards the AFL, journalists, umpires opposition clubs and opposition players are very one lensed and not balanced.
I like some balance in all debates.Comment

Preface this comment by saying I really rate Dawson, desperately want him to stay. But if he was to leave, I feel we can cover his loss. Blakey, Campbell, Errol and Stephens all left footers with elite kicks, playing between HB and wing.Comment

None of them also has his marking prowess.Comment

You like YOUR balance and YOUR rules for living. It would be nice if you refrained from projecting your view of life onto others in such a self-righteous way. Telling random people to apologise is really climbing up on a very high horse. Best that you leave the lecturing on the moral high ground to helping your children or grandchildren learn the values you wish to instil rather than in a footy forum.Comment

I agree. I also think that there are very few players in any team that are completely irreplaceable. However, Dawson makes us a better team and we are more likely to win games and a flag in the next few years if he is a part of that team.Comment

There's no doubt we are better with him. Played every game, 3rd in our B&F. And yes, his marking is superior to the other HB / Wing options. Let's just hope he stays...........Comment

I won't be apologising to any journalists as suggested by BS! I'm still waiting for Damian Barrett to publicly admit that he was totally incorrect two years ago when he blasted us for not getting the Daniher deal done. What a mess we would have been in now had we done that deal with Dodo at Essendon. These journalists make outrageous claims without any accountability.Comment
