A very risky proposal. It's gambling that Adelaide will finish below Sydney next year. While likely, it is by no means certain.

Such a deal would be better if it used picks in this year's draft or spread the risk over the finishing positions of more clubs by using more future picks from other clubs.

On another topic, Gold Coast has an interesting draft hand. This year: pick 3, nothing else in the first five rounds. Next year: future first, future second, future second (Collingwood, Fremantle), future third, future third (Collingwood), future fourth (Collingwood, Fremantle). They will need to use two selections. Are they looking to split pick 3?

I've decided to think about Dawson as a salary dump. It's much better for the psyche.

I agree Ludwig. I view his loss as the opportunity to keep JMac, Errol, Campbell, McDonald, Chad, Rowbum etc. I guess that's why I don't want us to blow it by signing Ladhams.

It makes sense that it's our proposal not theirs. I'd take option 2 in a heartbeat. Much prefer it to selling Dawson for moving up 8 spots in the draft to get pick 6. Could only mean we see a big quality difference between what pick 6 (after bids for Daicos and Darcy) will bring in and what pick 14 will get us.

We’d need to give draft pick as well as Amartey to get him.

I think a committee of Faunac8, The Bloods, MCS, Ludwig and I’mUnimformed can debate the question of whether my Lobb for Amartey suggestion is embarrassing?
Yeah nah no interest in getting involved in this debate/ discussion
However I will say that importing a player into your team who has shall we say question marks regarding their commitment and consistency on a wage potentially 200% more than a much younger player with plenty of unrealised upside and who has been part of our system for a couple of years now doesn’t make much sense.

More on Ladhams coming to the Swans:

He's had a medical over Zoom and spoke to Horse about his role
He doesn't need to play first ruck, but wants to develop his ruck craft
Power might be prepared to pay some of his contract, if they can get the right trade with the Swans [btw there is now talk of O'Meara to Port]
If Ladhams agrees to a move "both clubs are very confident they could broker the agreement."

I didn't find the 3 line menu at the top left of the page but by switching browser (from Edge to Chrome) I'm getting a still dark but much more legible version. Thanks for posting the link.

Interesting comment from Kane Cornes in that article thinking we should be chasing pre-agent Darcy Moore. Reckons we'll have the picks necessary to get the deal done which the Pies desperately need. Rather be chasing Moore than Ladhams with our list requirements,

I don't think Ladhams will cost that much in pick or $$ terms (his average salary at Port is $225k a year). So I could see us trying to pick him up and a KPD. I think Sicily would be OK also. Moore is going to cost a fortune in $$ and picks. Sicily cheaper on both fronts.

It is probably just me, but does anyone have an aversion to getting Sicily just because he has always come across as an absolute dick when he plays against us?

I'm sure he's perfectly fine and is a good player. But there are just some players I see and think - you really are a tool and a wanker, and he is one of them.

I was thinking that Sicily is reminiscent of Brereton. Which didn't turn out quite so well for us.

Yeah but the difference is BBH could walk the walk.....Sicily just looks like an angry ant when he 'goes off' and can't back it up. I'd rather the full tool box than a pretend one.

Safe to say, if he became a Swan he would be asked to 'reign it in' and just concentrate on footy, not faux toughness.
