Brereton, was pretty much finished and thought he could come along and pick up a reasonable pay-cheque while thinking he could bring some Hawthorn toughness to Sydney.

While we bought into the marquee player dream.

Sicily is younger and just maybe happy to get away from the Hawthorn "Clarko" hangover.

I thought Lance Franklin was a bit of a tool before he came to the Swans. I think some of it might be a bit of jealousy / envy. You very rarely feel that way about talentless players at other clubs.

I'm sure he's perfectly fine and is a good player. But there are just some players I see and think - you really are a tool and a wanker, and he is one of them.
Not on your Pat Malone there.

He does, to us. But I'd also reckon every other club's supporters would say the same about Papley.

But we love Paps, because he's our cheeky brat.

If there was a difference, it'd be Sicily went through a phase of one-week suspensions for niggles. But one of them, from memory, was a knee to the head of Joel Selwood - which is excusable and understandable.

Can the JD deal be done before the weekend? Keeping us all in suspenders!

They've offered us pick 17 or future pick 18. We've asked for pick swaps equivalent to them giving us pick 5. Pick 10 is probably where this should land, but no idea how it gets done... How about they give us Melbourne's first plus their second next year. Works out equivalent to pick 5 ish but feels less destructive. We'd have two firsts and two seconds next year then. We could give them back a future third or fourth.

The offers made to the Crows seem pretty close to the mark, so a bit of back and forth should see it wrapped up. Unless KB has something up his sleeve, as mentioned above, but if so, why make these offers?

Of course, it can drag right down to the wire but surely that’s not in anyone’s interest. If JD hasn’t had a heart reversal by now, I don’t think he will by next week, that is if he has a heart! (Maybe a bit harsh……..)

After the initial niceties, Cows had arranged to get the Dogs pick 17 which we knocked back, that was upped to include some later pick/s of unknown denomination, we knocked that back.

So Cows got involved in the big pick swap, their offer is now Melbourne's 2022 first.

With the PSD in their armoury, there is no way Cows are letting pick 4 go so we either take Dees 2022 first or walk away empty handed.

Having seen the amazing pick swaps that have taken place, Freo and Pies have great draft hands almost from no where, we've missed the opportunity to do an unders deal on the first day or so, pick 23 & Cows 2022 second if it was offered and could have been part of the pick extravaganza of the last few days.

Worried now we're walking away with nothing :-(
There is, however, the counter argument that if the club doesn't make a stand now then we stand to cheaply lose the likes of McDonald, Warner etc.

The PSD mustn’t be the threat that we all think. North Melbourne just got reamed on the CCJ trade when they could’ve “walked him to the PSD”

That's good. As unlikely as I've always thought it was and still is, we at least need that prospect dangling out there, so Norf locking in CCJ helps.

Not sure I’d assess that as getting reamed. They got him for pretty much nothing. Arguably less than nothing.
