While I'm not that happy about moving pick 12 I think we still win this deal! Next year now at this stage we still have 2 first round picks and our 2nd rounder and we have got someone who could/should be an 8 to 10 year ruckman for our club!

Also Kinnear and Simon who have an idea of who they are looking at in this year's draft and must feel that they can get a player of value with that pick, plus we still have our 2 second rounders this year!

    Well done Swans!

Absolutely right. I hate the Crows now.
The Crows and the Demons used to be the only teams I would say I "liked". Looks like thats changed

There you go, liz: Max Laughton on Twitter: "The Peter Ladhams deal (Port gets 12 and a future third, Sydney gets 16 and Ladhams) values him at roughly pick 39 - if the Swans finish 7th again - using the Draft Value Index. @FOXFOOTY #AFLTrade".

Great deal for us, in my opinion.

That's a very imprecise statement. Who is doing this talking? Where? And who is doing the drafting? The same people doing this talking?

If I were managing an AFL list I don't think I'd ever draft an 18yo ruck other than in the rookie draft. I'd have a few on the go, maybe. And then I'd try and pick off under-utilised rucks from other clubs with second, third or fourth round picks as required, and depending on the circumstances.

I'm okay with the Ladhams deal.

              2021 Draft: Picks 16, 31 and 39
2022 Draft 2 first rounders + our second rounder

If we ignore picks after the 2nd round the trades went: Dawson and drop of 4 places late in 1st round for Ladhams and late 2022 1 rounder. That's not bad at all.

Time for Reid to reinvent himself as a defender?

Yes, we did better than I thought in the end. 16 to 12 is only 200 odd points. Makes up slightly for the unders with JD. Balance of the team looks a little better now. A good ruckman in Hickey and one with potential in Ladhams. He will have a lot to prove. He will work under Cox and improve.

Ladhams deal is good. And there wasn't much we could do about Dawson. It's been a bad trade period on balance but I don't think we could have done better. Hopefully we nail our draft picks. Fingers crossed.

That might be a very canny deal if we’ve only handed over pick 39 equivalent in a very open draft. And can still get what we want with 16.

I’m pretty happy we got Ladhams

                        From the ABC Trade page:

Again, waiting for complete AFL House confirmation but reports say:

Sydney receives Peter Ladhams and pick 16 from Port Adelaide
Port Adelaide receives pick 12 and a future third round pick from Sydney
Pretty good result for Sydney on paper.

Maybe now find a swap to push one of the 2021 picks into 2022. Load up next year.

                            Not the worst

In a funny draft year, assuming what we want at 12 is still there at 16.

Prob a much of a muchness

                              Agree MattW.

If 39 is the calculation then we did well. Its ok to think about ruckmen in the draft but 18yo rucks are a dice roll in my opinion.

Love to know what the contract is - hopefully we have some cash left after Dawson's contract offer is removed.
