I think I read somewhere that the Crows haven't nominated BOL as an NGA player in the draft, which would mean they have no right to draft him. Wherever I read that also suggested they were still looking to take him with one of their later picks, or in the rookie draft. I'm not sure I understand the logic in that. If they had nominated him they would have no obligation to match a bid if it came earlier than they wanted to take him. Maybe they are hoping he slips through to the rookie draft, but even there I don't know that they have any priority claim to him.

Really? If that's the case, it does seem strange? Especially since some of the write-ups that I've read of the recent SA games, had BOL as BOG, or near enough. Perhaps uncle Mickey has sold him on how good it would be the join the Swans, rather than that Adelaide based rabble?Comment

I highly rated Robert Walls. I liked his old school attitude and how he stucked to his guns. He would get into arguments with Eddie and others and had no room for politics or niceties. It still sends a shiver up my spine when he said late in the 2005 GF with Sydney were holding on for dear life “these blokes are hero’s”. Total appreciation for the effort that both teams were putting in.
His football IQ was very strong and he had strong opinions.Comment

Caro is great, and unlike most Vic AFL media, she takes the time to understand Sydney, its market and develop relationships with key people at the club.

It was callous on Jordan’s part when and how he informed the club of his intensions.
I believe he got it very wrong on 2 counts:
1. By signing a contract for 2 years, he could have played in a team vying for top 4 with an opportunity for a premiership.
2. He could have rented for this period, saved his money and then bought in Adelaide. He would turn 26 then and command close to $800k for next 4 years, if his form remained good, and thus set himself up for life.
Big mistake, Jordan!
We will cover him and with Ladhams coming in, our big man stocks are looking healthy.

Ladhams cost us a slide from 12 to 16 in this years draft which is unlikely to hurt us, and a 2022 third rounder likely to be in the early 50's that we may not have used anyway, given we have two firsts and a second next year.
As a DFA, we can add Paddy McCartin for FREE in any of the DFA periods, we don't need to use a Rookie Draft pick on him.
More trading of 2021 and 2022 picks (not players) can take place right up to and including the last night of the NDComment

Just didn't kick on did he ? Injuries played a big role sure but we saw snippets at times of a very good player, but not enough. His unreliability in front of goal must not be forgotten as well, but i'd be a loyal servant too for 400 - 500k a year ( or is it more ? ) ! Move on as we will need his money elsewhere. If we keep him yes as a KP back but on a very substantial reduced contract.Comment

I reached the same view re our draft strategy based on that trade. I.e. that our first pick will be one of the KPDs you mention and that we're confident we'll have a selection of them available at 16 (likely the same selection that was available at 12).
The Ladhams trade really didn't cost much in real terms.Comment
