    Re: my comments above

I haven't seen enough of Ladhams to rate his forward craft, however we didn't trade him in to play in the VFL. He will 100% be in the team in round 1.

With Hickey playing the bulk of the ruck, Ladhams will find himself forward

do you mean like the 3 year contract for Squizzy to play only Snrs ?

half in jest but a long term contract for Melican 3 yrs and Squizzy Talyor 3yrs doesnt guarantee Snr games

      - - - Updated - - -

Reminds me more of the long play we took with the Mummy 4 year deal - which turned out gold but isnt always a guarantee ala Squizzy, Melican, Naismith etc on long term deals

Just checking, with Reid and Wicks resigning this week, that leaves only 4 players still out of contract with their futures up in the air?

I have O'Connor, Bell (may of triggered an extension), Ronke and Clarke as the 4 remaining out of contract players.

          29 in a 32 year olds body. Maybe 42.

Ladhams is a lot like Hickey. Both are mobile and are good marks, as well as being accurate kicks for goal.

I think their interchangeability can be an advantage for us. Normally I would be against playing 2 ruckmen in the same side, but these 2 are really ruck/forwards and command a good defender to keep them in check when playing forward.

It's a real pity because when he gets it right, there is no straighter kick for goal. He really threads them so it makes it so disappointing when he skews them rather regularly. Still like that we kept him on the list though.

Yep. Identical height, too. I think the Swans like the Hickey template of the mobile, clearance-winning ruckman and seek to replicate/entrench that with Ladhams.

I believe this is the contract situation in terms of our list make-up. Obviously some players can play multiple roles but thought it good to separate to help identify needs.

                      Main List 33
Defenders (8) (Rampe, McCartin, Lloyd, Cunningham, Melican, Blakey, O'Riordan, Gould)
Midfielders (12) (Parker, Kennedy, Heeney, Mills, Florent, Rowbottom, Warner, McInerney, Stephens, Campbell, Taylor, Gulden)
Forwards (9) (Franklin, Papley, Hayward, McDonald, Wicks*, McLean, Amartey, Reid*, Bell)
Rucks (4) (Hickey, Ladhams, Sinclair, Naismith)

                      Category A Rookies 2
                      Defenders (1) Fox
                      Rucks (1) McAndrew

                      Category B Rookies 2
                      Defenders (1) O'Connor
                      Forwards (1) Sheather*

                      Unknown 1
                      Midfielders (1) Clarke

We normally have 36 on our main list, 4-6 Cat A rookies, and 1-2 Cat B rookies.

Currently we have seemingly already committed to 33 players on the main list. Some notes from this:
                      • Drafting 3 players will take this up to our usual 36 list size. At least one really needs to be a tall defender.
                      • I am unsure on Sheather's classification. He signed a 2-year extension which may have moved him to the main list putting us up to 37.
                      • What contract has Reid been offered? Perhaps he is promised a rookie spot but has to go through the draft to get that? That would drop us back down to 36.
                      • Ryan Clarke - it looks like he will be delisted but what's the holdup?
                      • Sam Wicks - what is going on? He was only days away from re-signing 4 weeks ago.
                      • We have a fair bit of room on our Category A rookie list. Any chance we take P McCartin, 2 x speculative picks, and one other delisted player (Naish???)

If anyone can poke holes in this analysis or answer some questions it would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen very little of Ladhams, but would very much prefer if their were some differences - makes things harder to predict for the Swans opponents. Mumford and Pyke gave us that, and we all saw what effect the D's achieved when they switched from Gawn to Jackson.

Ronke. Not on your list. Reported weeks ago that he had been offered a contract but nothing since.

Bell. Reported that there was some dispute as to whether unused medi sub games would trigger "unenforceable" clause.

Wicks. Fox Footy report that North have offered him a 4 year contract at slightly higher dollars than the Swans 2 year offer and they would take him with pick one in the PSD. No idea of the veracity of this. If true it would be after Dawson the threat of PSD has been used to blackmail the Swans.

It is hard to figure out who is a rookie now with the changing rules. MacAndrew was taken mid season, main or rookie list? Sheather gets a new contract for two more years. Was he upgraded?

Thanks for your feedback. It really is hard to be 100% sure with the status of contracts.

Ronke - I hadn't seen the Ronke extension. I had assumed that he was being delisted. Have you got a source?

Bell - I'm pretty confident that the trigger has been pressed and he is staying. I read it somewhere but can't find it now.

Wicks - I know this sounds crazy but the Dad on BF has assured people that he is staying and that there is no truth to the North rumours. However, until it is announced it is not a done deal and anything could happen.

I have removed a large wad of off topic posts from the last few pages of this thread. Leaving them as visibly deleted posts was pretty distracting, given the number of them. A couple of baiting / response posts might have found their way out too.

A reminder - if you want to talk about footy stuff that has no relation to list management, the draft, trading etc, set up a new thread on this forum. If you want to talk about non-footy stuff, take it to one of the other forums - like Open Chat.
