From Hawks point of view that's a 5 pick upgrade and depending on which picks are extinguished by Daicos and Darcy matching about a 12-14 pick downgrade. Is that balanced?

That we've enquired about Dogs pick 23 means we have a target or two in that range although Geelong appears by the commentary to be in the box seat to snare that pick.

It looks like the draft will be alive with pick swaps on both nights.

Does that mean you would do the deal if Hawthorn would?

          Carlton is also interested.

Kai is a medium forward. We have Heeney, Hayward, Sheather even Logan could play the medium role. Not sure why we would want to recruit another. At least Molan sounded like the jack of all trades sort who could fill multiple roles for us.

I have no idea who we will draft but I would be very surprised if we don’t take a defender, maybe even two.

After the first half dozen picks the draft sounds very even. It's going to be hard to analyze if we did well or not. It's going to be a wait and see how it all turns out in a few years time kind of draft.

I don't think I've ever been less opinionated on a draft. I really don't know who we should take. I suppose KB will go with the best available and just hope his judgment is on target.

Listening to this conversation with Kinnear was a highlight of my day. He's perhaps the most open of the Swans officials.

Are you meaning to be ironic? They were laughing at how little he was prepared to give away?! Apart from saying that he would take Darcy at pick 1 in an open draft (a double hypothetical), what else did he reveal?

Another phantom draft, this one from the Roar - suggests we might go for Tom Brown https://www.theroar.com.au/2021/11/2...b-should-pick/
His dad played some excellent games for Geelong over 8 seasons, but injury meant he didn't get to 100 games - that part of the father son rule seems iniquitous.

I guess we'll find out tonight, and then the two nights after.

Picks 12 (WCE), 13 (GWS) and 15 (Tigers) could be available according to various sources. I guess we could trade one of next years 1sts too for the right player.

I see a lot of pick trading in the first round this year.

Most mock drafts have us taking Brown. Medium defender, reminds me alot of Callum Mills, which is definitely not a bad thing. I think he will be a very safe pick.

I don't think we should trade either of our future firsts - at least not this year. (I'd be prepared to trade them both for Lukosius next year!)

Mmmm . . . show me Ben King and I'm interested - though it'd take more than two late first round picks.

I agree that King is a more exciting prospect - but less attainable. He will cost more at the trade table (and probably $$ too) and he is more likely to want to return to Victoria if he leaves the Suns - and he has a lot of suitors with deep pockets there. Better to target the slightly less hyped Lukosius who might actually be gettable. I think the Crows will come hard for Lukosius too but hopefully we can beat them out by being closer to success. Could come down to whether Adelaide/SA exerts a pull on Lukosius or not (or, more likely, whether he just wants to stick with the Suns).
